Reid.
Think I remember Andy's press conference after that happened, and he said something to the affect of Justin Reid not realizing we don't do that here, but they discussed it and now he knows.

So will they put Chavarious Ward on Rashee Rice all game or will they have him travel with Kelce? I think I'm leaning Ward on Kelce for the game.

The 49ers are an extremely zone heavy team which means the idea that anyone travels at all is probably just something they do very little of.

Agreed. But this offense chews up whatever zone gets thrown at them. Surely the 9ers see that, right?

Ward on one of those two, some exotic zone look otherwise? Or, just Bob Sutton the thing and go with the "we don't adjust for what offenses are doing, they adjust for what WE are doing" approach?

They seem extremely content to not change much, they might bring pressure occasionally or show you man once or twice.

Wilks is old and is completely set in what he does. If the Chiefs roll up 450 yards and 35 points in a win he'll simply say they lost because the front 4 didn't get home.

They are literally resting their entire SB on the idea that Nick Bosa has to take over the game.

Or they can beat KC in a shootout.

They aren't going to travel whatsoever and it's why the 'Over' should be the bet on Rice's receiving yards, and probably MVS too.

It would be extremely arrogant of them to think they can just roll on a top level defense.

In reality both of their playoff games involved terrible play from basically all sides of the ball. They didn't make adjustments the other teams just made mistakes.

There were no adjustments against Detroit, Detroit shit it's pants.

It strikes me as a REALLY bad idea to suddenly scrap your entire defensive gameplan the week before the Super Bowl.

Something to remember about man coverage is that it takes a LOT out of your DBs. They're constantly running when you're in man. If you're the 49ers and you already have a thin secondary, you really can't ask your guys to go out there chasing guys for 60 plays. They'll simply run out of gas by the 4th quarter.

No, they're best served to dance with what brung 'em and hope they can include enough wrinkles in there to throw PM off a time or two. They're not going to win this one the way we just beat Baltimore - by simply throttling our offense. They'll have to do some of the hated 'bend but don't break' stuff. They'll have to hope they force a couple red zone FGs and create a couple turnovers along the way.

3 stops, 2 FGs, 2 turnovers. Even THAT leads to 27 points or so presuming they can shorten the game with their run game and make it a 10 possession ballgame.

It's why I say the Chiefs have more paths to winning this game than SF does. The 49ers just aren't going to go out there and force 5 or 6 punts. So they can't let this be a 12 possession ballgame. And even if they get it down to 10 possessions, they have to make sure 7 of those end up with some sort of kick or a turnover.

That's a pretty damn tall order for them, IMO. It's by no means impossible, but it's really the only path forward I think they have. I just don't see them putting this offense on lock-down. They don't have the defensive depth to manage it.

Purdy started pressing more towards the end, he just never got punished for it.
