That's not true at all. "The big game" is Texas v Oklahoma...which is fine. It's one of the top rivalries in all of college football. Baylor and TCU being highly ranked teams is a huge sign of strength for the league. It's like Ole Miss and MSU in the SEC. The problem is, it doesn't feel like a big game because nobody seems to care...and that's shitty because it's a great product that will be wildly entertaining.

I'm excited about watching the game, but I'm a huge CFB fan. The average fan couldn't tell you their mascots. The trouble is that that their best game isn't a big game.

The two teams with the smallest followings of fans (except Iowa State maybe) are playing in a top 10 football game.

Can't think of anything better for the league actually.

MSU and Ole Miss for the SEC West is the same thing.

I dont care what anyone says, there is nothing exciting about the Big 12 conference at all...

The rivalries suck ass, the lack of a championship game is chickenshit...

I am ready for either the conference to disband or them to expand to 14-16 teams and get with the times. Which is gonna be hard because the over all conference itself is garbage now...

This should be a showcase game for the league in which lesser-known teams receive national attention...but nobody is paying attention other than die hard CFB fans. The ESPN/ABC/CBS hype machine is in full effect for Ole Miss and Mississippi State right now. The Big 12 game is getting zero run because the conference consists of 10 teams all rowing in different directions.

The lack of exposure will make achieving success more difficult in the future...which will make getting exposure more difficult...and the cycle perpetuates itself. It doesn't help that Big 12 teams have a bad habit of crapping their pants when they finally do start to garner national attention with #1 ranked Kansas State getting drilled by 28 points to a terrible Baylor team that was 1-5 in conference. That torpedoed their title run and Klien's Heisman bid. This was followed up by Baylor getting stomped by 5 touchdowns late in the year by Oklahoma State. Both the Wildcats and Bears proceeded to get stomped in their bowl games as well.
