I thought he looked really good on a number of throws. As mentioned, loved seeing the head up and sensing pressure. He got a little too anxious in the pocket a couple times, once in the redzone. Every QB gets it. I expect him to improve on that and as is it's not really a major problem.
It will be really interesting to see how he balances using his athleticism outside the pocket vs. hanging in there in his first full season. There is a fine line and I'd imagine it will be one of the bigger early signs of how rapid a rise he makes towards his potential. |

Man look at the ****ing technique on this visor head placement. No wasted motion. Smooth transition to the front. Secures the fit.
Now let's see how an amateur executes this play:

The Chiefs’ New Quarterback Is Walking Into An Ideal Situation Few first-time starters have ever had as much talent to work with as Patrick Mahomes does. By Neil Paine With seconds left in the first half of the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons last Friday, new starting QB Patrick Mahomes showed once again why KC felt comfortable dropping longtime starter Alex Smith in favor of the talented 22-year-old they took 10th overall in 2017. |

After rewatching the abysmal Saturday performance, I am guessing that the sack that Mahomes took on the 2nd and 1 around the goal line in the 3rd quarter he would like to have back. Had Watkins open for the TD early and Hill open for the TD later and failed to pull the trigger on either.

Even scours the whole field while adjusting his visor, this kid's eyes are always scanning for an open receiver. It's like his eyes are lasers and he's looking for a target!
