Deadlines make deals ultimately

Jones can say to his people that he’s thinking about taking higher offers from other teams right now, but when it comes time to put pen to paper and sign yourself up for a new life on a new team elsewhere, it’s not that easy

We’ll see just how sober those drunk parade words were soon enough

Well, I think there's reason for optimism. If anything it makes sense to deal Sneed now if indeed the parameters are set on Jones' deal.

Just go sign Wilkins from Miami and be done with it. You'll save a little money to maybe shop for a better free agent WR.

I will say this:

If the difference between the two in price is 10M AAV or more like I have seen some people suggest... that's a decent quality starter somewhere on the roster shoring up a weaker spot... It does create a quandary of if one move is more beneficial than the other...

One good thing about DL is that you can address it with volume.

It’s not like LT, where you need one good one. If you can’t have a stud on the DL, several good players can make up for that.

If you don’t have a good LT, you don’t have a good one. You can’t have 4 decent tackles to make up for that.

Jones could always agree to something this weekend or after the start of FA, but it sure seems like we’d know today if he’s coming back.

I’ll be assuming he’s gone if a deal isn’t announced today.

He has to know that we won't wait around for him to make up his mind. We are going to pursue Wilkins - if we arent already. It will be very much like the Juwann Taylor and Brown Jr. situation last off season... If Wilkins is going to come in under, then via con dios.

What gives you that idea? It's only 2 days left before he can agree to a new deal with another team. Chiefs will 100% wait those two days.

So far this whole thing reads to me the same as it did last year. Chris Jones says he wants to stay and gives a big speech at the parade, and Chiefs say they are optimistic, but then nothing gets done. And then Chris Jones trolls on Twitter, which I believe he does because he thinks it puts fan pressure on Veach to meet his demands, and then that has no effect. Rinse, repeat. Right now I do not believe anything will get done. There's no franchise tag or final contract year leverage for the Chiefs, and I doubt that Chris Jones has changed his attitude about what he wants that much since last offseason. Not mad at him about it, he was crucial to all 3 Super Bowl wins so I'll love him forever.

Time to start treating him like Tyreek, you want the bag, go get your bag, we’ll make it work. Yes our defense will take a step back but we believe in the team, the coaching, the offense, the defense, the CHIEFS. You’re all money, all words, Deuces my man.

Step back? No evidence of that for us. Without Hill the offense led the league in every category and was better.

tend to agree that if a deal isn't done by Monday, he gone

Tampering happens, they already know what he can get from other teams so why wait unless you plan to leave?

That's where if it's not done by Monday morning the Chiefs need to move on and make sure they sign the other guys they want.
