How would YOU try to improve the defense?

Amid all the hysteria over our two wins and offensive performances, I'm just wondering what can realistically be done to improve the defense? Now we know Berry will hopefully be returning soon which should be massive, but with the way this offense is looking, just a slight improvement on defense could take us to the promise land yall. So does Veach sit, be patient and hope Berry is enough to improve things? Should he get on the phone and beg Breeland to join the kingdom? Or should he seek to make a trade of some sort?

I think I'd probably go with trying to get Breeland in and with Berry added to the mix I think the unit would be vastly improved.

...Breeland...Berry...Parker...Fuller...

With Nelson In the slot. Surely that would be enough?

Sutton has no idea what he wants this defense to be. And it shows. He tries to defend against everything on every play....walks down the middle of the road if you will, afraid to pick a side

Our outside corners I thought played pretty well. It's the middle of the field that is killing us. We need safety help.

When we brought pressure we forced them to punt.

When we rushed 3 or 4 they scored.

If Berry isn't out there they need to play a high risk/high reward style. Sitting back and giving an elite qb 10 seconds to throw is death.

Also you think looking back on it, this team has spent way more of it's high draft capitol on offensive players, they used FA for defense.

3 out of the past 5 years all their top picks have been on defense. of course we just traded one of them

They didn't really give Peters away for peanuts, they got a decent NFL starter out of it. Obviously that's a downgrade but it wasn't peanuts. None of the corners they've drafted have worked out besides Peters.

What I didn't understand about CP and the Peters thing was acting like it was addition by subtraction. You don't send away one of the league's best corners and get better as a result.

Sometimes an employee is poisonous and you need to get rid of them even if it does mean a setback in the short term. That doesn't make it the wrong thing to do, but people acting like losing our best player on defense wouldn't hurt us or that the team would get a lift from it was silly.

Losing Peters won't affect how the history of the Mahomes Chiefs plays out because he wouldn't have been here anyway. If anything Fuller might be, but losing a season of Peters doesn't really matter that much.

Ok I was just talking about their top picks which were Speaks, Mahomes, chris jones, peters and Fisher.

Hell out of the last 2 drafts of the 12 picks they had they 9 of them have been on defense.

We lost to the Raiders last year WITH Peters.

We beat them WITHOUT him.

I think that was when the KC Upper Brass realized that we CAN win without him.

He shouldn't be smiling; he should be crying. Sutton is awful.

In the last two games, Jets defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has been sending three or four-man rushes every play, and seven or eight coverage defenders. Nothing is ever going to be accomplished if you don't send five to seven blitzers. If they don't, the opponent's rushing game will be gaining four to five yards a carry—so will the passing game.

Teams are more conservative with their passing game, using screen and dump passes. For example, Broncos FB/RB Peyton Hillis was killing the Jets on the ground two weeks ago, and still Sutton sent the four-man rush. San Francisco QB Shaun Hill had a great passing day last week and had five seconds of time to throw and guess what...NO PASS RUSH!

I dunno, maybe ask the team to cover routes under 10-yard depth instead of just those over 10 yards. That'd sure ****ing help.

I don't disagree and obviously we all don't know what was happening behind the scenes. It is just frustrating that it was allowed to get to the point that it did, some of that is on the player but some of that is on the organization. It is not like he was acting like Josh Gordon.
