It has to be Nevada. There's nothing there in most of the state. A massive freshwater lake would generate more for the country than the land and people do. Vegas can relocate.

Nebraska for sure. No one actually wants to live there and it's geographically located perfectly for a freshwater lake.
If we're going by purely most useless state, that has to be Mississippi. |

100% Kansas... let me list the reasons
1) Kansas sucks 2) They are trying to lure the Chiefs and Royals out of MO 3) We would be near a beach 4) **** Kansas 5) Flooding Kansas would take a geographically beige area of the country and make it beautiful 6) A single molecule of water is more valuable than absolutely everything that resides in it's borders with the exception of a handful of people. 7) **** Kansas |

Hey, it's one of those irrational Kansas haters that I can't understand. Everything to the right of an arbitrary man made line is awesome and everything to the left is complete shit. |

After 20 years of thought, I'm sticking with Nevada as my choice. The positive impacts on Arizona and Utah would be profound, and you can always reposition the casinos and brothels into Utah, which frankly would be good for that state too.
Nebraska would be a good second choice, though. |

There’s too many people living in a part of the country where there isn’t enough fresh water.
Nevada would be the best. |
