Absolutely nothing against Griffin, but JPP HAS a hand, with at least some fingers. Griffin's situation is very different. He just has as stump below the wrist. Much more of a challenge to deal with. But hey, I hope he gets drafted as high as possible and outperforms all expectations. Credit to him to overcome all odds and get to the point where this conversation is even happening! |

How many NFL WRs have we seen who trap the ball against their chest, rather than catch it with their hands? With TO just accepted to the HOF, that's at least one HOF player who mostly trapped the ball. Vernon Davis has had a great career and he routinely traps the ball. If two great hands are not even required on offense, why is it required on defense?
On defense, how many defensive players have made their mark using arm tackles, or grab and pull someone down? Seems to me, trying to grab with the hands is actually not what defenders typically want to do...sound tackling uses pads. When I think about it, I think Griffin's disability may have actually forced him to be a more disciplined tackler. Sure seems that way on the film. He should do fine in the NFL. |
