These deals this off-season have been nuts. Insane that he is higher up than Kelce in AAV

Sure.

But no risk-it, no biscuit.

You aren't gonna win a SB by playing things safe. At a point, you have to make sure you have the horses and hope they stay healthy.

He IS their Mahomes on offense. Without him, the offense doesn't work nearly as well. They're a 9 win team if he's not on the squad? Maybe 8, maybe 10. But they aren't a SB team.

Is there a lot of risk there? Sure, but if you want guarantees, I can crap in a box and call it guaranteed - I have spare time. Guarantees mean precisely ****-all in this game. Floors make you relevant in November but the ceiling matters in January.

McCaffrey IS their ceiling.

Kelce is used like a WR but plays TE so he's a screaming bargain. The 49ers actually have a market efficiency in CMC, even as a $19 million dollar "Runningback".

Because other teams are paying $30 million plus for a WR that doesn't have the overarching impact on their offense that he does.

Yeah - Solomon Thomas over a QB was a fireable offense. And the fact that Lynch took him, IMO, because he played at Stanford is doubly so.

It's one of the low-key worst decisions in league history and nobody ever calls him on it. At worst he gets excused for it with "Well they were going to sign Kirk Cousins..." but what's that have to do with their 2017 draft? And if it WERE the case, why the hell did they give up a 2nd round pick for that overrated pile of crap, Jimmy Grapes?

And Nick Bosa was the consensus top talent available. When there's been a judgment call to make, Lynch hasn't made the right one.

I think he's overrated as hell. Not bad - just not good either. He's as mediocre as most of these guys.

Solomon Thomas wasn't this amazeballs prospect, either. He was just a step above Tyson Jackson. To me when you're completely QB-less, you've got the high draft pick, and the non-QB you're selecting is debatable as a top 15 pick in many other draft classes, you're an arrogant pile of crap.

And I'm not even a giant Purdy hater. I've seen far worse QBs win Super Bowls, certainly. But pointing to him as a case for Lynch/Rat Jr knowing what they're doing at the QB position is like pointing to a homeless guy who just won the Powerball and saying, "Boy, that guy sure knows all about making money!"

He's basically been very lucky, like Fred Warner in round 3. Hitting on their 2 WRs even though that is about to be a problem.

i'll give him credit for Aiyuk and even Deebo - I loved Aiyuk but Lynch loved him more than the consensus. Same with Deebo.

Getting those guys where they got them when most considered them 'reaches' at the time, is evidence of solid chops.

Kyle Shannahan has saved Lynch’s ass on several occasions. Most notably the Trey Lance disaster.

He literally is Andy Reid from 20 years ago. He’s the best coach in the league not named Andy Reid. The work he’s done with QB’s and his offense in general is very impressive.

Unfortunately for him he punted on the 2017 QB class bc he thought he was getting Kirk Cousins and that has been the one disaster of his career so far.

So-called QB genius wasn't consulted at all by idiot GM when they made the decision to trade up for a QB?

I have a hard time believing that Rat Jr had nothing to do with the Lance pick and it was all Lynch
