I’m actually revising the percentages of each group by day and comparing against the eventual actual deaths that can be extrapolated by day and group. We’ll be over 1,000 deaths middle of next week based on what I’m seeing. Don’t really want to update this (what’s the point) but if we are able to stay under the ventilator limits I’d guess we are now at a rate just slightly higher than 11%. If we run out of ventilators that number will edge into Italy territory (around 20% dying). Again, caveat is that high number is not reflective of the actual death rate, just the rate of reported cases that die. Still believe the asymptomatic and unreported cases that are mild and never get hospitalized are 50% to 90% of the total cases depending on who you listen to. |

Italy just extended their lockdown for two more weeks. In Lombardi they're seizing your car if you're out without your papers allowing travel or your papers don't permit travel when you're stopped. There are road blocks and checkpoints throughout the area. |

It appears that it did. It is unlikely for a deadlier mutation to get a foothold, but not impossible.
One theory I read, and just a theory mind you, the Men of WWI were packed in the trenches like sardines. Even though the disease was relatively deadly and could kill quickly, it could spread so quickly in the trenches the mutation didn't slow it down. This may have been the deadlier version that the returning war veterans spread all over the world. |

It's just natural selection. A virus strain that kills or incapacitates its host is less able to spread than a strain that doesn't, and therefore is less represented in subsequent generations.
