BlackOp your last post is breaking the thread. There is something wrong with the code you copied and pasted. I had to put you on ignore temporarily to post this.

It's a rare sequel that absolutely stands on its own while also enhancing the original. You can absolutely see this without seeing Blade Runner. But I'd still highly advise seeing the original first.

God, this movie is pure cinematic bliss. I love it so much.

The most ****ed up...and sinister thing about 2001? It was rated "G"....Kubrick was THE quintessential "bad ass". Stealth as ****....no matter what he made, there was biting discord at the root.

This was an impressive film when it came out. I have no idea why so many still rate it so highly. It usually makes it in the top half of 100 best film lists.

I'm in the target audience for artsy slow films. I thought the slow parts of BR 2049 were some of the better parts.

2001 has a lot of special effects that were special back in 1968. Now, not so much.

Outside of a lot of slow scenes of not so special, special effects, there isn't a lot to this film. I guess you could argue a couple of memorable scenes with Hal, but really.

I liked the book as a kid. No idea what I would think of it now.

To me it's kind of like the Beatles. While I appreciate its influence on the much better stuff that came later, I personally have no use for it.
