Keeping the pivotal defensive players fully in tact + Brown + Whatever we draft = Ideal situation in my eyes.
I prefer a lock down corner over whatever we could get in the 2nd. Especially if we're going for history this ONE year. |

One area where Veach does not excel in is trade compensation with big name players. We saw it with the Frank Clark overpayment and Tyreek's return offer from the Jets.
He is great at smaller acquistions who turn out to outperform their worth. So, in this scenario, I wouldn't be shocked if the offer was a 3rd and a 4th. |

Hill went for exactly market value after the Adams trade in line with a guy who wanted to be a certain place and had leverage. Stop with nonsense. |

He wasn't at the time of the acquisition. A 13 sack starting DE for a late 2nd is incredible value.

Clark was valued dramatically higher at the time as a 3-down player yet you’re inconsistently just judging him by the results after the fact. There wasn’t any great value for the 49ers getting an oft-injured Ford and having to give him a huge contract. Are you high? |

I am not saying Seattle fleeced us but surely Veach had more leverage than he realized at the time. You can draft your own DE with that compensation by moving up in the first. |

Who were they supposed to go up and get in that draft with that trade compensation? (PS - I know for a fact that Montez Sweat was not on their draft board for injury reasons.) The Clark trade didn't end up being great. The Ford trade ended up being perfectly fine. Hill was traded for market value. Ridiculous to say he doesn't know how to handle high end trades as a result of that small sample size. |
