Another fine example of why dumb teams do dumb things. Not saying they should have paid Saquon a butt load of money because doing that for any RB is stupid in this era. There is no way Jones is a $40 mil a year QB. The gap between his yearly salary and Mahomes is not that great which is stunning considering how wide the talent gap is.

There’s only a handful of paid QB contracts that are actually worth it. Unfortunately this is the going rate for a decent QB now.

Burrow and Herbert are gonna get $52+ million.

What else can you do if you’re a GM? You think an elite QB is available very often?

It's so absurd.

**** no, you don't pay Jones $40m per. That's insane.

How do you even let it GET to this point?

You tag and trade him for whatever you can get and go hire a game manager on the cheap. Same difference, way less money, and you draft a guy with potential to be worth paying.

I know not everything is about race, but if Jones was black, with the exact same stats, he would never even get a contract close to that.

The Ravens don't even want to pay Lamar Jackson, a black QB who has won a league MVP and led the league in TD passes once, that much.

Lamar is starting to decline and he's missing playoff games. The ravens are being smart by not paying him what he wants. They made him a fair offer

Hearing the cap hit next year is $19M, which isn't bad. The rest is going to be insane.

Jones played every last ounce of leverage he had..think about it.

If you're forced to tag him, you lose Barkley. If you let him walk you're picking 25 and now replacing a QB probably with someone like Garappolo. The Giants overachieving gave Jones leverage. All the QB runs etc..

Had they gone 5-11 no one would care, but they won a playoff game. He walks and you go 5-11 all of the sudden Daboll is on the hot seat and NY is pissed.

Daniel Jones isn't stupid at all he played his hand to get paid way better than the player he is.
