On that we can agree. They won't do dick in the playoffs this year, though, so at least there's that.

Absolutely horrible contract. Sparky is the perfect name for Leake. He sparks the other team.

I am hoping the Diamondbacks win it all. A good friend of mine is a fan of theirs. Rockies fans talk crap for being a team without a World Series, Nationals fans are annoying and Dodgers fans are entitled.

And Cubs fans act like the world owns them something.

im glad to see the FO admit a mistake. Dewitt take the wallet hit for the good of the team. Next year we start getting $100 million more a year in TV contract revenue. This won't hurt us as long as Mo doesn't make mistakes like this every year. I'm still bullish on another great era starting in 2019.

I think that a 2019 playoff rotation of Martinez/Reyes/Flaherty should be as good as any teams top three pitchers. That leaves a lot of talent to trade for a banger in the middle of the order bat or just improve the offense.

I cant believe they were able to move that contract. I wonder how much $ we are paying them.

Quote:
The Cardinals traded struggling starting pitcher Mike Leake, cash considerations and $750,000 of international signing-cap space to the Seattle Mariners for minor league infielder Rayder Ascanio on Wednesday.

Leake, 29, is owed $55 million on the five-year, $80-million free agent contract he signed with the Cardinals before the 2016 season. He waived the no-trade clause in that contract, allowing the Cardinals to make the deal. He already has left the team, which is here for a 1:10 p.m. game today against the Brewers.

Should still let him walk. You can't give a 31 yr old 3rd starter $100 million when the only thing your organization can develop is pitching.

Lynn needs to go and the money needs to be spent on the lineup.

I still can't believe they are steadfastly opposed to taking on Stantons contract. He's exactly what they need.
