Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

The problem is, is that you don't just trade 2 second round picks for a stopgap at QB. I feel sick now.

49er fans don't get it. It's not that Alex Smith is an awful quarterback. He's good enough to get your ass bounced out of the playoffs with an all-world D and coaching staff. Alex Smith is another retread for a team with a history of failure with retread quarterbacks. He's the same shit after the promise of a new era. He's continued futility crushing hope of change.

49er fans, you may think that you know, but you don't. And you never will.

Don't see a lot of 100 yard games for Bowe with a dude that only throws it 25 times a game

I hate to break it to you but profootballcentral is legit.

They were the first ones to report this smith trade.

Also Colquitt has signed a new five year deal.

Your team sucked from about 2003-2010. Before that you were winning playoff games with Steve Young, before that you were winning Super Bowls with Young and Montana.

You know what this team has done in its last eight year period? I'll tell you:

10-6, 9-7, 4-12, 2-14, 4-12, 10-6, 7-9, 2-14.

You know what it did the seven years before that?

7-9, 9-7, 7-9, 6-10, 8-8, 13-3, 7-9

How many playoff games did we win in that period? 0.

How many games did we go to in that period? 3.

How many NFL records did we set for futility in those games? 2.

You're a guy who burned his hand on a toaster oven comparing the injury to a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11.

The only good part of this trade is that Hamas Jenkins is back in top form.

To play devil's advocate, the punt fumble is the reason they lost, not him.

3. Cassel is cut and Quinn is not retained.
4. We use our #1 pick on Geno Smith with the belief that he has what it takes to be a franchise QB but isn't ready to step in on day 1 like RG3, Luck, Wilson were and would like to follow the process that Rodgers went through in Green Bay. Let him sit for one year, and then next year take over.
That was my thread proposal over the weekend but the pick was a 4th rounder.

If true, the market or the Raiders got involved and they increased their bid. Unless the Raiders got in just to drive up the price.

Wonderful.

I don't want to watch shit for another 6-7 years. Hopefully he's got a half season left in him.
