I agree but the Chiefs got their best player from that draft in rd 3. It had nothing to do with having the first pick in each rd.

Elway has really gotten by with Manning the same way Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell did. He hasn't done well without Manning, and even with him there were massive issues on offense that Manning hid (OL).

Stocking up on high priced FA is not how you win in this league. Elway got extremely lucky with Manning and now the real challenge begins.

Elway needs to draft better bc Oakland, KC and even SD have had great players come from their recent drafts. The gap is closing and Denver was 2-4 in the division last year.
