Hunter Dozier is such a likeable dude and has been showing some good contact lately. A lot of people had given up on him, but I want nothing more than to see him succeed. Trade Duda for a jizz rag when he comes back and let Dozier ride the year out.

Not sure we're getting a rag or some jizz, let alone a jizz rag, for Duda.

He’s a really good person and popular with teammates. The skills he has shown so far - taking good ABs, working counts, taking walks, hitting the ball to all fields, making good LD contact - are all traits that showed in his good seasons in the minors. He reminds me quite a bit of DJ LaMahieu of the Rockies and long has. Similar bodies and skill sets. They experimented with him at 2B, too bad it didn’t work. If he continues to hit, he should continue to play. Barring a long slump, they should just roll with him and see what he can do. |

I saw him in Arizona a couple of years ago. He was huge, way too big/bulky to play third. His bat also looked a little slow through the zone. I was pleasently surprised to see him this year. He has slimmed down some and at least looks the part. |

Looks like another Merrifield mistake by Dayton Moore & company. Why don’t they call these guys up sooner & let them play? And speaking of that why just Martinez trade away to the Cards for a bag of peanuts? Awful scouting. |

They should have called up Merrifield earlier last year, but at least there they did it because they wanted to let Mondesi play. It wasn't like they blocked him for a nobody.

Dozier was hurt most of 2017. He really struggled in 2015 before putting it together in 2016 at Omaha. He started this season in Omaha because he didn’t show in ST he was ready for MLB time, and they got Duda cheap. Martinez was a mistake, as discussed last week, but he also was in independent ball before his breakthrough 2015 season at Omaha. It’s not like the guy was a youngster who came through the system and got overlooked. |
