No doubt you are correct. I am very much for giving Odom a raise, and Josh a large raise and extension. Large amounts, as you know, need to be spent on defensive coaching upgrades and defensive talent upgrades . We know how the game works. Money needs to made available in whatever fashion) to get more defensive on field talent to CoMo. |

They have saved a lot of money recently so they should spend some of it though. |

I'd think that Mizzou could take Heupel to $750K without too much trouble. If you could just get 2 more good years out of him here to stabilize the offense/program, he'd be worth winning a couple of bidding wars for. There's just been too much turnover in the last 2-3 years; they need to calm the waters and keeping Heupel around (with the security of Odom's likely 5 year commitment) would sure help in that regard. |

I think they really like what they have in Ryan Walters and I think that's with good cause. I think Brick Haley is starting to have an impact as well. And mostly I think Odom would like to remain highly involved in the defensive gameplan. It took a couple of weeks to right the ship but despite defensive personnel that was often athletically limited, the D started to look pretty good. Get a little more explosion in the secondary in at MLB and they'll be back to top tier, IMO. Odom's never going to be as good an offensive mind as guys that came up on that side of the ball. Heupel will always be a better tactician and gameplanner, IMO. So why not give him even more responsibility there and free up Odom a bit to be more active on defense? I still think Odom is among the brightest defensive minds in the game and think he'd spend the next 30 years making a comfortable living as a successful power 5 DC if we ever fired him. You're unlikely to find a DC better at that role than he is. So play to his strengths. Let him continue to work with the defense with Walters and Haley as lieutenants and Heupel running the offense. |

Odom needs more on field defensive talent. Let’s figure a way to get it to him. |

Like I said; we should be able to win a bidding war or two for him against small colleges. Sooner or later someone will come offering him $1.5-2 million to coach a D1 program and we'll lose him; he was never going to be a lifer. But if we can keep him long enough to establish an identity and a 'coaching tree' for the offensive side of the football, that would be enormous. |

Steckel was making 600k when he was Mizzou's Defensive coordinator for reference. He left for the head job in Springfield for 405k.

Seemingly every game he got just a little bit better. Sparks reminds me a lot of him. Acy has a better pedigree but I think Sparks will be the better player. What they miss is that hyper-athletic Zaviar Gooden type in the middle and another versatile safety like Braylon Webb. I don't think the talent was that far off; it was just very green and short at a couple of key spots. |

With Heupel, he could still stay here a bit, improve his stock and get a better offer pretty easily. But yeah, he may just want to try his hand at being a head coach as quickly as possible and if so, there's not much we can really do to stop it. |

Hall...maybe? I don't think he's quite to Gooden's level but Gooden was laughably athletic. That guy would do things that made me shake my head all the time; maybe the best power/speed athlete I've ever seen play for them. But we're just so spoiled by the players we've had at the Will for the last 10 or so years. Weatherspoon - Gooden - Brothers - Hall. I mean, I'm holding Hall to a "NFL Prospect" bar and that's pretty steep. I think he can get close, but not quite to that level. Garrett is the guy that needs to be upgraded on; he's just a bit over his head at this level, IMO. Great motor and tries his ass off, but he's just a day late and a dollar short too often. If he's your backup MLB you're in good shape but he's pretty much an every down player for them out there and that's not great. And honestly, I don't recall there being much behind him, though I may be forgetting someone. |

It seemed both Lee and Hall made some amazing periodically during the year, but would also disappear for quarters or more. I was hoping it was youth and inexperience. I like Garrett as well, but yes it’s clear he’s about a half step slow. Thanks for the response. |
