For what it's worth, they're specifying that she's Shalla-Bal rather than a female version of Norrin Radd.

Also the rumor is the Fantiastic Four movie takes place in its own universe, so there could still be a MCU Surfer out there. If the MCU functions like the comics, Galactus is a fundamental aspect of the universe and should exist in every reality.

The X-Men were created in the 1960s amidst the Civil Rights Movement. Clear parallels there.

They had the Legacy Virus in the 90s with clear parallels to the AIDS epidemic.

Clear LGBT parallels in the Bryan Singer trilogy, as well as throughout X-Men history.

Now they’ve got a non binary shapeshifter and all of a sudden it’s “woke”?
