It's tricky because you'd want him stepping up in the pocket and not running away from pressure, but he can do things outside the pocket that no other QB can do, so it's hard to tell him not to do that.

Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are basically in a class that no one else can touch, so they both have plays where they hang on to the ball too long and wander around and get criticized for it. Especially when they make mistakes.

Haters gonna hate... They like to pick him apart because they aren't paid to say how great Mahomes is all the time. Patrick is gonna be Patrick and while he can work on some things, you can't take the wild out of a wild animal and you don't want to take away what makes him really special just because he throws an interception in preseason.

A lot of the criticisms come from ex-players that are so envious of his ability that they can't help it because they know how much better his is than they could ever be.

It's a great place to be; having people attempt to break down a small issue because they have nothing else.

Hate? Or maybe it's that even Michael Jordan and tiger woods had things in their game to work on. Thankfully, mahomes isn't satisfied with being any less than perfect. It's obviously not a game changing issue. But it will really help his progression.

Not to mention learning these habits now will prolong his career. He will always have some mobility but at some point he will need to rely more on quick decisions than using his escape abilities to throw off platform. Might as well learn it now.

it's like telling michael Jordan to take on a midrange jumper instead of trying to make the spectacular play everytime

Maybe Mahomes could have stepped up in that pocket and not been touched or maybe he steps up and gets trapped and sacked. I'd rather he try and make a play, because he doesn't have much room to step up and if he does then he has a lot less time to throw.

Mahomes doesn't need to step up in the pocket. He's athletic enough that he can use his feet to buy himself a lot more time to throw.

So do I. Imagine how good he would be if he listened the seasoned experts on CP. Chiefs would never lose a game.

While overall I can agree with the sentiment, I think it's also okay to admit that Patrick still has some things to learn. He ain't perfect. Just as close to it as humanly possible.

Which players are we allowed to criticize aspects of their game?

Bump is a true fan on display. Reminiscent of those Alex Smith homers.
