Andy Reid called me, and he asked CP to fix the offense.

I think we can all agree the offense has not been up to par this season.

At this point, there's only so much we can do about it. Our best WR got injured and is missing the season, our best RB is out until December, our LT situation is messy and our stud TE is looking his age.

So, is this who we are now? Is 30 points a game a distant memory?

What can be done?

(Andy Reid is lurking in this thread, so make sure you're on your best behavior.)

Mahomes is realizing that Kelce, in spite of teams scheming to take him away as a viable receiving option every week, just isn't that uber-dependable security blanket he has been every year of Mahomes' career. Because of it, he's now trying to adjust on the fly in real time on the field, and it's not been easy for him so far.

I say give Noah Gray a few more of those amoeba route options Kelce has been so great at and see where that takes them.

I'm curious why Worthy came to a complete stop on that one route over the middle where Mahomes led him perfectly. It didn't look like he was about to get blasted, and that play likely would have produced a huge gain. I assume maybe that he thought the ball was going to the other receiver a few yards beyond him? But man, if you can catch a ball, just catch it and let god sort out the rest.

He thought the ball was going to Rice. Pretty sure he said the same on the sideline with my poor lip reading skills.

I'd have to watch the play again to see what defense the Falcons are in but these receivers are taught to sit down against zone. It looked to me like he stopped because he was doing what he was told. Rice does it all the time.

It comes down to lots of people want this defense with the 2018 offense, they want to see 45-17 games, that however isn't today's NFL.

FFS. Just last night Mahomes missed an open Rice downfield early, threw a pick downfield to a wide open receiver that should have been a TD and threw behind Worthy downfield?

Worrhy has had to play defense to prevent a Mahomes INT in back-to-back weeks now bc Mahomes is underthrowing the ball and not leading him.

It isn’t playcalling
What about the play calling near the goal line?

Mahomes decided himself to line up at WR?

Mahomes decided to bring in Leo Chanel as a “blocker”?

He quite literally has. Average depth of target plummeted the second Nagy took back over as OC. Tied for last a season ago with gimpy Joe Burrow and is significantly lower than that standard currently. Not league average. Not even significantly below league average. Dead. ****ing. Last.

Everyone's depth of target is plummeting.

Mahomes dropped further because at the same time he lost Tyreek Hill, got a band of possession WR's mixed with scrubs and has had ongoing OT problems during the period.

It's a mixture of a lot of things.

Only thing the offense is doing that’s new.

Pointing the finger at Nagy is hilarious. Assuming that was him and not Andy…where do you think he learned that from?

Even if Nagy is calling the plays it’s Andy that’s creating those plays guaranteed.

I think he saw a spot in the zone and tried to sit for the ball.

Hell, I'm not even certain it was the wrong thing to do. Chiefs WRs get taught to do that a lot - we hear how often its emphasized to the WR corps not to run out of an open throwing lane and how they have freedom to see that spot in the zone, sit and use it.

I mean it's the thing that folks swear makes JJSS so valuable.

Looked to me like that's exactly what Worthy was trying to do. He wasn't trying to avoid contact - he was trying to sit in a soft spot in the zone and get that easy 1st down pitch and catch.

It may not be that either guy was wrong - they just aren't used to each other yet.

If they're going to keep up the cute stuff like that, then they're going to have to throw it to Mahomes at least once just to keep defenses honest, because everyone in that stadium and who were watching that play knew it was going to be a run up the gut.

Stop taking the ball out of the hands of the best offensive player in the league, even if your offense is struggling in goal to go situations.

At this point I hope Kareem Hunts ability to always fall forward and his goal line prowess can fix some of this shit.
