Using your math you just do $60M in signing bonus (counts $12M/year against the cap) and pay min this year, $5M in Y2, $7M in Y3, $10M in Y4, and $25M in Y5 (which you won’t pay and you can spread the dead money across two years at $6M per). You can also add all kinds of roster bonuses that you can play around with as well. The risks inherent to all long-term deals would be there if you go out that far of course. I’d try to do something shorter if you want to keep him so if he goes down you don’t get your lights punched out. |

Karlaftis was drafted last year with McDuffie not in 2020 with Sneed. |

For including FAU and our 1st in the starting point for talking to the Bears about #9, and guage what else they might be asking for to complete the deal?
As an example. Last years 1st (FAU), this years 1st, and next years 1st for #9? Is that too much? Not enough? For a possible shot at Joe Alt, and at worst get one of the other two guys Crow mentioned? Last edited by Coogs; 03-17-2024 at 07:39 PM.. |

Am I wrong in thinking that the longer this draws out the more underwhelming the compensation will likely end up being for us?

Yes, we have the leverage. We can keep him or trade him. No lock down number 1 corners left in FA, and no sure thing in the draft. Some of these Coach's and GM's need to win now to keep their job. I think Veach is more than flexible and has plans either way. He holds the leverage.

I think the way things are playing out we should keep Sneed. But if we can parlay him into a low draft pick then to get a LT that would be great. But it doesn’t seem to be working out that way. And keeping him will be great for our three peat. but we need to get Smith back at left tackle. |
