*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

RunKC is just being a blind dipshit, as if Andy Reid called the old "Have a clean pocket and then run into the defensive line" play. It was the perfect complement to "Miss every open receiver in the second half" scheme.

Reid has his faults, but if you make four straight conference championships and the Super Bowl, then there is no reason to dismiss winning one last game out of hand.

This is true. But you can’t deny that Andy Reid’s history of dumbassery in January doesn’t scare the shit out of you.

I really do hope Mahomes puts this franchise on his back and takes us where we need to go. I think he has the potential to.

Everyone is all upset because Reid said the whole "they wanted me to bench Alex, and that turned out pretty good" thing.

Well... it did turn out pretty good. Not great - great would have been Smith stepping up and winning in the postseason and not folding like it was taco Tuesday.

But pretty good is keeping his trade value up, getting a third round pick and a top ascending cornerback on a ridiculously cheap rookie deal to shore up our pathetic secondary.

Yeah... that was a pretty good decision. Now, Smith goes away, we have two more assets to fill positions of need, and $16M in cap room to sign more defensive players so that we have talent after Mahomes scores TDs at a record pace.

gonna need a killer pass defense, because teams are going to have to be chasing TDs now and not field goals.

See, this is a reasonable way of phrasing it. But to say he definitively can't get there is just inflammatory and hyperbolic.

Am I concerned about his handling of a lead in the postseason? yes. Hell yes.

Am I going to table that concern until I see what he does with a real QB? yes. Hell yes.

I'm not 100% with Reid, but I'm choosing to look at it as "We could do far worse."

Again, at least for now. Finding a successful replacement isn't always as easy as it looks

If he has a QB with the testicular fortitude to tell his conservative sideways gameplan to go **** itself in key situations.

QB can cure a lot is wrong. Reid is a dumbass sometimes but Smith was by far the biggest problem when the tight game needs to be won.

I don't see a super conservative Andy Reid in the second half of these playoff games. If that was the case, he'd have just fed Hunt. I see a QB that has "don't **** up, don't **** up, don't **** up" running through the back of his mind. I see a lot of open receivers, missed opportunities. And a defense that was just flat outmanned the last two years. One of those problems has been solved already; the other is being worked on as we speak. (Fuller).
