Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs
Well, it looks like the deal is done.
https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith Jay Glazer @JayGlazer Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith. |

Im sick to my stomach, Not so much with Smith but with what they gave up to get him.
This team is stuck in a giant loop of fail. Its ground hog day. |

I have thought since the offseason began that Alex Smith was our best option. He is underrated by people with Geno blinders on, and he will work out in KC.
That being said, we did give up too much. I can't fathom Reid and Dorsey overpaying for him, but there could have been another team in the mix. Quarterbacks are boom or bust. If one works out, he's worth a first rounder - probably multiple first rounders. If he doesn't work out, a 7th was too much. If Alex Smith is good enough to win playoff games here, basically, if he's as good as he was last year - good enough for San Fran to be a muffed punt away from the Super Bowl - then a 2nd won't be overpaying. But I think we did give a premium for what he's worth right now, as I was hoping for 3rd-4th. Either way, the QB position is settled, now we move on with one purpose which is improving the roster everywhere else. |

I can't believe we gave up that much...more than what we gave up for Cassel and I'm not even counting the fact that Vrabel was in that trade as well. |
