Thoughts on first preseason game

What did you like and not like aside from the ST’s new kickoff

Like:
-Jaden Hicks is already the 2nd best safety on this team. He looks awesome
-Punt God is an upgrade
-Even after a few plays you could see Worthy’s speed press the defense
-Liked Nic Jones ball tracking ability outside. He’s better than I thought
-Run defense was very good
-Steele might have made the roster. He looks really good and needed on short situational downs
-tackling needs work but it was backups

Didn’t like:
-FAU is gonna be a rotational player on passing downs. Big improvement as a rusher, still got mauled on run plays
—We are going to miss Sneed. How much? That remains to be seen
-we’ll miss Gay’s speed. That was evident tonight
-Nourzad and Hanson have a long way to go. Rough night for them

anything else?

Think im just getting old. Or maybe im just getting used to championships. But i was less enthusiastic about this game than usual. Haven't even watched highlights or the All-22, which is very unlike me.
I love footbal more than any other sport but preseason football is very forgettable. It has no bearing on the regular season and the bubble guys I want to make the 53 almost never do. I just skip it.

Prince keeps getting pumped up by the people paying close attention to camp. When he gets some playing time he looks terrible.

I forget; who was LRZ and Prince running behind? Which OL I mean? I don't think the starting OL was out there when they got on the field, but I could be wrong.

As others have said, I don't think it means much as winning isn't really that important as seeing what players might make the roster. I was much more concerned with the Royals bullpen blowing yet another game...

Wasn't worried about that part. I understand that room will be limited.

Much more concerned about his in ability to break an ankle tackle. He went down too easy. Doesn't look ready for NFL contact. He's gonna need another season or two at least.

Compare that to say, Steele, who looked like a man amongst boys out there.

One guy looks ready to contribute right away. The other looks like he needs some seasoning. At best.

Ignorant. He beat the first defender every time he had the ball in his hands. That alone shows that NFL defenders struggled 1-1 against him.

Well, I just meant that it's tough to evaluate RBs if the line they're running behind allows multiple defenders to get into the backfield.

I think he showed some elusiveness, got a couple guys to miss, one of whom was basically unblocked. Not saying he should be RB3 or anything, but I think he could be developed; he flashed some ability, and it was just his first football game ever.

He has to learn how to block before Reid puts behind Mahomes.

I don't think he flashed the explosiveness necessary to get excited about him yet.

He was rather ordinary. And that's ok. He's just not ready this year and i think that was to be expected.

You look at his carries and he made no one miss. One guy blew right past him on a bad angle and he was taken down by the first defender he made contact with after that.

He just doesn't look the part right now.
