I wonder if it will be up for a few Oscars like for cinematography, directing, best visual effects etc. I'll be seeing it also this weekend and looking forward to it.

Oh no doubt about it. Its gonna be hard to ignore Dunkirk come award season.

I'm thinking its a shoe in for best sound mixing. Should also get a nom for Best Picture & Director. If it doesn't then holy crap, this year is apparently loaded.

I truly despised it. From the second Batman to the third Batman to Inception to Intersteller, it seemed that Nolan was continually trying to one-up himself in the batshit crazy ridiculous plot department. The only one of the three I really liked was Inception. In that, it worked. The others were just varying shades of annoying.

Were this not a straight-up historical story, and instead another let's-see-how-far-I-can-bend-reality shitfest, I would not going to see it.

Sorry to spam. Regarding 70mm showings. How do I know if it is IMAX 70mm or normal 70 mm and which should I want? The only theater in Kansas showing it in "70mm" is Leawood but it doesn't indicate if it is IMAX 70 or normal. Is one going to be any better than the other?

I would assume its marked 70MM IMAX if it was??

Im seeing it tomorrow in IMAX. But it was clearly just marked IMAX. Two other theaters were marked just 70MM.

All i know is that an IMAX screen is 'boxier" and "taller" and a 70MM screen has a wider picture.

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if the 70mm would be better than normal IMAX.

I tried looking it up and seems like a tough call that may be highly dependent on the theater. Looks like maybe 70mm might be better if you know the theater has a decently large screen an modern enough sound. IMAX at lest seems like they have good standards for sound and if you know yours doesn't have one that was crammed into a smaller theater would be a good way to see.
