They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

I don't think by any means they wanted to have a WR group like this or have last years CB group. But really, when you've got that top heavy of a contract, you're gonna have to do that somewhere.

It's probably gonna be the DL next year and everyone will be pissed about it.
The WR problem is twofold. 1. They don't draft enough of them to get volume. 2. When they did draft a few, they have sucked. Powell, Hardman and Moore are crap.

Hardman was fine, they had Tyreek.

Moore sucks.

To me the evidence is overwhelming that you tag Sneed if you can't get a deal done. He's that important and losing your 2 best defenders at the same time is hard to overcome.

The Chiefs are projected to have $63 million in cap space after cutting MVS. They'd still have $45 million if they tagged Sneed, which is plenty. And that's before extending a guy like Omenihu and/or Reid to lower their hits.

And again the Chiefs don't need stars at WR. They just really ****ed up badly this year on a talent level. I mean FFS...

MVS-always dropped passes, has never been consistent downfield even in GB
Watson-was on a ****ing PS in January 2022...
Skyy-sucks. Not an NFL player. Complete bust
Toney-talented but always hurt. Can't stay on the field
Ross-dumbass who is in trouble

Rice is the only credible talent at WR. They don't need stars they just need a couple more competent players to fill out WR1-WR3
Oh no….he gave up a TD. Funny how McDuffie has done the same thing.

They need a top end WR to make the unit better.

Go get an Aiyuk or trade up for Nabers and fill in the rest.

Has Josh Williams shown anything in his body of work in comparison to Trent McDuffie? What makes you think he's a starting level player other than the fact that he was your guy during the draft that year?

He's not a bad player. Great depth player. Can play snaps but relying upon him to start in place of Sneed?

Now do the DL gonna replace Jones.

This is just the way it goes. It's why there's some validity to the talk of them blowing some of these SB chances.

Might as well get used to the idea because we aren’t going to be able to afford Sneed. Not sure I want to pay for his one or two penalties a game either.

We'd have had the money for Hopkins if not for the disastrous MVS deal....BUT you could also argue we don't beat Cincy without him

We’ve used 2/3 of our draft picks on defense for like 5 years including multiple trade ups in the first round. We even spent a first rounder this year on a guy who barely even plays right now. And I’m not necessarily knocking that.

This is what I worried about. Building this type of defense is a faucet you can’t switch off. You need to keep pumping picks and $ to make it work every single year. And you have to dial back on offensive resources to do that. We just built this thing and it could all fall backwards bc we have huge decisions on guys like jones, Snead, and soon enough Bolton and gay. So do we have to load up on defense in the draft yet again?

Bear in mind that the reason we spend on offense is because we haven’t done a good job of drafting. And a lot of that is because it just hasn’t been a priority. We’ve had a revolving door of OTs, poorly stocked WRs, and we are very due quickly for big decisions on the interior OL and TE depth and we haven’t done much to get ahead of it. But can we afford to do that in the next 1-2 drafts if we have another reload on defense? So yeah knowing the resources we have I wouldn’t mind dialing it back just a smidge on defense, and we can draft good guys on offense that is less money you have to spend on the bandaids we’ve casually forked out left and right

What does that say?

Maybe I'm off, but it seems to say to me that they think it's more a QB thing than WR's.
We had the wrong WRs for 2021 and we responded in the offseason by gutting every single last one of them. I think it says we make it work this season then get to work in the offseason bc we have no reason to panic midseason on guys who probably wouldn’t help much. I mean half of our WRs were tossed away. These WRs aren’t going to go to other teams and thrive. I think you’re looking too much into it. It’s the WRs. Mahomes and Reid need to work with them better but it’s brutally obvious they just don’t have the talent and that has little to do with mahomes

They traded up for 1 CB in the first round. They traded up into the top 10 for an offensive player, I think.

They drafted a RB in the first round and a shitty WR in the 2nd.

They've missed on draft picks. They've hit on draft picks.

What you're describing here is.....well it's the ****ing NFL. One pick for one spot is a pick not spent on another part.

I'd rather just build a great offense and not play defense at all so some of you will just shut the **** up about "spending a smidge less" on the defense. You want them to get ahead of some of those decisions on the interior OL and DL, then bitch about them taking a DE in the first last year that isn't playing much this year who's going to be expected to step in and play for FA's that walk.

They had a "bad year" in 21 with the best WR in the league on the team, then the QB had the best QB year in history with Juju smith shuster as this all around WR who played half the games last year and now the WR's suck.

Yes, it clearly has little to do with the quarterback making 60 million dollars a year.

My theory on why our passing game looks awful compared to last year, even though many of the pieces are the same:

1. It's year two of our post-Tyreek-Hill offense. Defenses have a whole season of tape on how we operated without Tyreek Hill last year and are better prepared to defend our new bread-and-butter plays.

2. Defenses do not fear our intermediate and deep passing game and are daring Mahomes and our wide receivers to make plays.

3. Wide receivers have not been up to the task, and as a result, Mahomes has lost confidence in his receivers and is not targeting intermediate and deep throws when he should. The problem has been exacerbated.

4. The coaching staff (many of them in new positions and without EB) has failed to build confidence and chemistry between Mahomes and the receivers, especially on the intermediate and deep routes. They've failed in practice, game planning, and in-game calls and adjustments.
