Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

Streameast is pretty solid today (watching in Mexico), but I don't think I could handle this picture quality regularly. Looks to be a super compressed 720p.

I wonder why they re-render it instead of just piping through the raw stream. Just to put their logo on there?

On NBC, they said that this was the biggest live-streamed event in US history, and overall internet usage in the United States also set a record. They claim 30% of internet traffic in the United States during that time was devoted to the game.

That's an odd way of putting it. The NFL would trade $110 million in actual revenue over 10 million viewers all day every day. Whether NBC is happy with it, we'll never really know without knowing their actual subscription numbers.

After splitting with the players, the NFL took in about $55 million, which is about $1.7 million per team.

For a $10 billion+ business that basically prints money, that doesn’t seem worth it to sacrifice a bigger viewership # and to piss off your consumers in the process.

The consumers don't seem too pissed.

I have no doubt that peacock made money. But god the spin zone is strong

- of course it’s the most stream game considering it’s the first ever exclusive internet stream
- they’re hawking this 23m number as if this doesn’t include local as a big chunk of that
- nobody cares how this compares to regular season TNF. Anyone with sense knows that these are 2 very different thing
- nobody cares how this compares to last years lower profile wild card games. We do know that 23m is almost half of the 40m the cowboys game pulled in. And that the Saturday wc game with 2 lesser interest teams pulled in a 30m which suggests that free Saturday night football would have destroyed

So yeah it’s no surprised that they got ahead with the pr spin on this one because you can’t tell me they didn’t leave something at least 20m viewers on the table.
