The point is very clear.

The Elways years were a blip on the franchise radar.

And John Elway ain't walkin' through that door.

I’m shocked Jake Plummer doesn’t get brought up more in Broncos history. He took them to an AFCC and represents a “normal” path of success that teams have to take if they want to make the playoffs multiple times in a 5ish year stretch.

He wasn’t a #1 overall playing in a super weak conference. And he wasn’t a random choice by HGH future hall of fame QB. The Broncos actually had to work to bring him in and build a team around him.

Nix will never be as good as Plummer, and I’ll bet they’d kill for that kind of QB right about now

The Broncos and their fans should thank the football Gods Peyton Manning was even available. This is the 26th season since Elway retired and aside from 4 of those years with Manning, it’s been very very bad.

Failed QB after failed QB. Cutler, Tebow, Lock, Paxton. Now it looks like Nix might be added to this list.

Without the Colts getting lucky enough to get the 1st overall pick, you would have almost 30 years of suck

Right, minus the Peyton years they have one winning season in the last 14.

A lot more quiet around here than last week, or at any time during the preseason. THAT didn't take long.

Well it's still preseason for the donks. Or maybe it's the offseason already, I always get those mixed up...

Someone is. These things are always cyclical given the luck involved.

It's not like anyone knew how good Mahomes would be, including the Chiefs, or he wouldn't have been picked where he was.

Even in the 1983 draft, Blackledge was the QB picked after Elway, and Marino was picked at 27.

No one really knows--the statistics show it's basically a coin flip. You gotta flip the coin a few times to get a great QB.

You must've missed the part where Brett Veach called Mahomes the best player he's ever seen before he even played a meaningful down.

Cutler wasn't really a failure. We just made the grave mistake of hiring **** stick and letting him blow up a team that was starting to round into decent shape.

Not saying they would have won a superbowl with him, but they could have had a competitive team. And if they'd built the same kind of defense with him, they might have won a SB.

People say that kind of stuff all the time.

If he and the organization really believed that, they wouldn't have sat at 10 hoping to get him. Anyone who knew what Mahomes was would trade everything to pick him.
