*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

And Stanton would have been sacked over and over again and we would have lost more games. Our OL's were horrible in 2014 and 2015.

Our OL even got Alex hurt in 2014.

Drew Stanton. Wow. That's a hot take.

I don't get this revisionist history that says Alex Smith wasn't somehow SPECTACULAR for the revitalization of this franchise. I can recognize the huge dividends we have recouped on that investment while also knowing it's time to make like Mortimer and SELL... SELL... SELL!

The Mahomes era is around the corner. Just around the corner. And Alex Smith will leave him with a team that has a clear identity, a stable regime (if we don't have double digit wins and a playoff win, who knows what could have happened on the coaching staff), and 6 nationally televised games.

The Chiefs were about to step into the NFL spotlight BEFORE drafting the sexiest deep passer known to man. The future is bright, and I hope Alex restructures and stays on as a backup or gets traded to help another limp-dick franchise have some kind of stability while looking for their franchise guy.

This is like hating on your ex-girlfriend for her flaws. No, man... have love for that psycho. She made you the man you are today, the man who was capable of finding the TRUE love of your life. Can't hate her for that. Don't hate ALEXa for ****ing you up, when it led you to PaMe11a.

Something that really ticks me off is when people talk about how much the Chiefs gave up for Mahomes.

They didn't give up 2 1st round picks. They bettered their original pick by 17! That was way better than a simple swap. So in reality, they gave up an additional 1st and a 3rd. But the return is a pro bowler player for the next 10 years.

I still think Matt Moore would have done a decent job for much cheaper.

I'll always wonder if Geno would have turned out differently with a full year to sit and learn under Reid. I said at the time I thought he might take 2 years.

If they simply didn't like anyone from that 2013 draft (who could blame them, in retrospect) then going out and getting a guy like Moore and waiting a year to draft a QB, they could have gotten Derek Carr in 2014.

Reid/Dorsey's decision > mine

We've made the playoffs almost every year.
We've won a ton of games
We've won a playoff game
Swept the division

And we got Patrick Mahomes.

Let me say that again (because it's fun to say)

We got Patrick Mahomes.
