NFL odds: After Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes is now the overwhelming NFL MVP favorite

Frank Schwab 2 hrs ago

We can cease and desist with any debate about someone other than Patrick Mahomes being the NFL MVP favorite.

You’ll hear people argue that Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Alvin Kamara or anyone else should be “in the conversation,” but the only real talk is that the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is the overwhelming favorite until further notice. Everyone else is vying for NFL offensive player of the year, though Mahomes should probably win that too.

Sunday night’s heroics, leading a game-winning drive over the Las Vegas Raiders everyone knew was coming, solidified Mahomes’ position. He’s the best player in football and he’s having a phenomenal year.

The odds at BetMGM reflect that.

Mahomes is -118 to win MVP at BetMGM. Next on the list is Wilson at +350. Aaron Rodgers is +550 and nobody else is less than 12-to-1.

When someone brings up rushing yards per attempt to compare 2 QBs, it's not even worth it.

Like bringing up Completion % without actually mentioning Completions?

Last year's MVP won because of Rushing ability.

Why would I need to bring up completions when bringing up completions percentage?

I listed the stats that Mahomes is leading Rodgers. You are the one choosing to discount Wins, Rushing, Yardage and Cherry Pick all the other stats you want to use. Keep rooting for Rodgers.

Yeah IMMMM the one cherry picking stats.

Yeah completion %, yards, TD, and INTs aren't the consensus main QB metrics or anything. Nah let's compare their rush yards per rush!

Picking 1 thing out of the list I posted IS cherry picking.

I like Mahomes and hope he wins- sorry you have such a ****ing problem with it. I am a Chiefs fan- not a Packer fan. I like Mahomes and not Rodgers. Does that clear things up for you?

If you look at the history of how this thing is given out, it’s probably the most relevant QB stat there is.

Mahomes leads in DYAR, YAR, DVOA, VOA, PAA, and EPA among other advanced QB stats.

He remains the best quarterback in the sport and certainly the most valuable to his team and it isn’t all that close (regardless of whether a group of writers choose to give this year’s MVP to someone else which I’m not convinced yet they will).

Rodgers is 38 years old and putting up incredible numbers.

The PFWAA love a good story so he’ll be the MVP.

Mahomes has 13 more years before he’s 38 to win a few more MVP’s.

Yeah, but he also led the NFL in TD passes. I am not saying running isn't the main reason he won MVP, but leading the league in TD passes can't be ignored just to strengthen the narrative that Jackson is only a runner. I mean, it's a pretty important stat for any other MVP.

Rodgers will win now but it’s embarrassing that he’s padded his stats while only beating 2 teams with a winning record.
