I'm in the era where that could conceivably be true for me as well, but my parents didn't have reservations for 'PG' material.

We went to indoor cinema and drive-ins both with great frequency.

MoF, I have little doubt I saw some unnamed 'R' content before I saw Smokey, because I would always sneak glances over at the other Drive-In screen where the grownup movies played.

The earliest I can distinctly recall is Phantom of the Paradise at the Crest Drive-In [74-75], but I doubt that was my first film ever.

And of course I saw Star Wars opening night at the Glendale [77].
