Yeah, thats pretty much how this situation has been reading for a while

This would be the shock of the year. It would be like the 2011 Eagles or something where they are insanely talented and just fall apart anyway.

Last I heard the Jets have something insane like $110m in cap space next season.

Someone will pay Bell. I wouldn't be surprised to see so $50m guaranteed after Gurley just set the market.

This will lead to even more teams letting star RBs go in the near future. Teams are going to draft for depth so they can cut and move on.

Rams still have like 57 million in cap space in 2019, which is plenty to retain Donald and Peters. After 2019, they'll probably lose Talib and Whitworth which is plenty to continue covering Donald's salary (~$20 m) and there will still be money in the bank for Goff. The Rams have a sweet cap position. They'll be fine. Doesn't mean I think paying a RB 15 per is smart.

On the other hand, why not go ahead and pay Gurley sooner than to wait until Bell resets the RB market? Eventually, Gurley’s contract will be lower once Bell and some other RB’s get their payday, so it makes sense from the Rams view point.

Considering Donald is a RFA in 2019 and not a UFA, unlike Gurley or Peters, the Rams have no reason to offer Donald anything right now. Let the market set the price for him when the time comes. If another team wants him in 2019 they are really going to have to pay him beyond a contract. The Rams are correct to not offer Donald any more money at this point.

I don't know. If you have a legit rb threat that catches, runs and blocks and gets 1800 yards from scrimmage consistently I would pay them. Especially if they keep defenses honest from keying in on your wr or qb.
