The age of your youngest child

I did a study a while back where I was looking at the ages of parents of young children, and I was surprised at how many parents of pre-schoolers were 40+ years old. I'm curious if the community was a fluke or if it's common.

So...poll coming. How much older are you than your YOUNGEST child? Poll crowning soon from the poll birth canal.

Rule: Your youngest may be a natural child, stepchild, or some other child relationship.

I remember, when I was a senior in college and newly engaged, saying to my friends that I wouldn't have any kids before I was 30.

That's when I had my second one.

Looking at the poll results, it appears that about half of the youngest children have a 40 year-old parent when they enter first grade. I always assumed that it would be much younger.

We're not empty nesters yet since my 21 year old son still lives here but it's not like we're tied down with him in any way anymore and it is great. Glad we got it over with when we were young and poor because now we can do whatever the hell we want and afford to pay for it as well.

37 years. I told my wife that if we were going to have a second kid, it would have to be by a certain age. I didn't want to be the "old dad". I'm 46 now and he is 9, and I feel like the "old dad".

My oldest is 13 and will be in high school next year. I am not at all ready for that.
