Connor Embree - 1st Year WR Coach

Kid better button shit up.

Quote:
Connor Embree returns for his fifth season with the Chiefs and enters the 2023 season as the team's wide receivers coach after spending two seasons as an offensive quality control coach (2021-22) and two seasons as a defensive assistant (2019-20).

Embree again worked closely with the wide receiver corps in 2022 as an offensive quality control coach assisting an offense that led the league in receiving yards (5,250), touchdowns (41) passing first downs (272), receptions of 25+ yards (49) and points per game (29.2). Embree helped develop a new group of veteran receivers (JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson) who accounted for over 20 percent of the Chiefs receiving touchdowns. Smith-Schuster led the team's wide receiver group with 78 receptions for 933 yards and three trips to the endzone. Fifth-year receiver Valdes-Scantling had two regular season touchdowns and a career-high two postseason touchdowns. He stepped up big as the team battled through injuries in the AFC Championship Game, with 116 yards receiving off six receptions, three catches of 25+ yards and one touchdown en route to the team's Super Bowl LVII win.

In 2021, Embree worked primarily with the wide receivers group. WR Tyreek Hill recorded a career high 111 receptions for 1,239 yards en route to his sixth Pro Bowl nomination. WR Mecole Hardman ranked third on the team, recording career highs in catches (59) and yards (693).

In 2020, Embree primarily worked with the defensive backs who featured AP All-Pro S Tyrann Mathieu who led all safeties in the NFL with six interceptions and rookie CB L'Jarius Sneed who showed a lot of potential in the nine games he saw action (six starts). He snagged three interceptions, 2.0 sacks (-19.0 yards) and seven passes defensed.

In his first season with the Chiefs (2019), Embree primarily worked with a linebacking group that accounted for 5.5 sacks and 275 tackles in his role as a defensive assistant. LB Anthony Hitchens led the team in tackles with 88 and was responsible for 2.0 of the unit's 5.5 sacks.

Before jumping to the professional ranks, he spent two seasons on Coach David Beaty's staff at the University of Kansas as a graduate assistant where he gained experience working with the offense and special teams.

He also spent time in the high school ranks as the offensive coordinator at Blue Valley West High School and as the wide receivers coach at Fairview High School.

Embree played wide receiver for the Kansas Jayhawks (2011-13). He also spent one season at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2010).

Education: University of Kansas (B.S. 2013). Born: Superior, Colorado. Family:Wife - Alex.

College Career as WR
Quote:
2012 (So.): Did not see any game action. KU Record:1–11 (0–9 Big 12)

2011 (RS): Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules after joining KU from UNLV.

2010 (Fr. at UNLV): Spent the 2010 season at UNLV, but took a redshirt. UNLV Record: 2–11 (2–6 MW)

High School: Was a quarterback as a senior in high school… Played free safety and recorded three interceptions as a junior… Earned second-team all-Eastern Kansas League honors… Was a three-year letterwinner… Also played basketball.

Personal: Born in Superior, Colo… Son of Natalyn and Jon Embree… Has one brother and one sister… Father served as the head coach at Colorado (2011-12), and has made assistant coaching stops at Colorado and UCLA in college football and the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins in the NFL… Brother, Taylor, played football at UCLA… Plans to major in communications… Would like to be a football coach… Main hobby is playing video games.

"They [Veach/Reid] believe they have been sloppy the last couple weeks with the WR's..."

This is about a stupid _ss post as I have ever read. This Embree clown was a paper shuffler. He would not be hired as a JV coach at Liberty HS.

Y'know, it'd probably be more efficient for you to list all the KC area high schools at which Embree would not be qualified rather than tell the same joke in back-to-back posts

LOL - you should hang out here more often if my post gave you the triggers. Sorry, Bro, it’s true. A WR Coach isn’t going to correct our problems with catching the ball - the most basic function of being a NFL WR.

Double down on your stupidity. That Alternate All District jacket you wear say alot about your knowledge of "catching the ball and "basic function of anything NFL".

You haven’t made a coherent post yet. Are you lost? I DGAF who we have as a WR Coach. Your WRs have to be able to catch the ball as a basic function of their job. I’m sorry you aren’t smart enough to understand this

What exactly would the best WR coach on Earth have done differently? What would he have done, specifically, that would've made MVS catch the game-winning TD pass that hit him in the hands?

I mean, there are things he could try...

I like it because of the symbolism, these guys are playing like shit. And, if you don't see a difference in the game after the first practice with this drill, the next practice you put them in there and chain them up and leave them to sit and dwell on their shittiness overnight.

If we had a nickel for every time we called for spags' head or said Brandon Daly sucks. Or EB must actually be calling plays when we stumble but was neutered when we succeed. Or Joe bleimeier is awful because he can't coach up drob and pringle but now he is brilliant because we succeeded last season. Now it's nagy and embree.

It's simple. As long as Reid is here we can coach anybody up on offense. Those who haven't succeeded weren't very good in the first place. You gotta give these guys some shred of talent to work with

I seem to recall the drops decreasing that season.

But even if it doesn't, I'm still all for getting one, feeding the defense a butt load of Taco Hell, have them fill that thing after and then throw MVS, Watson and Morre in there and tip the sumbitch over.
