I still think it ends up being a tag & trade for Sneed. He was elite this past season, but you don't pay future money for past results, you pay for what you project their performance will be throughout the contract.

Sneed's value for securing big dollars will never be higher, and at the same time, his trade value will likely not be higher. No one would blame him for playing hardball to secure as much money as possible - he has the rings.

We have McDuffie and some young guys already waiting in the wings at CB. If Veach can somehow finagle a late 1st (unlikely) from an NFC team, that's a no-brainer. More likely is a 2nd and change.

But who knows - maybe he goes all-in and pays both guys. It just doesn't seem like a Veach move.

Sneed probably has 4 more high end years in him he'll then be a good player for 2-3 after that.

If you want to trade him you're drafting a CB really high because having 2 CB's they trust out there is a big reason the defense works.

I just don't see a team wanting to give up draft capital and handout a big contract after a trade.

There are a few teams that might do it, high end CB's are extremely valuable.

A team like the Lions would...and absolutely should trade for a player like Sneed. They need defensive help, have the cap space and are a playoff team.

Yup.

I think the Lions would fall all over themselves to give us a 2 for Sneed. I think they're drafting at like 61 - they'd do that in a heartbeat, IMO.

And they'd probably throw a 4 and maybe some capital next year in for good measure.

They BADLY need a player exactly like Sneed on that roster. And his mindset/attitude fits perfectly with Campbell's approach.

Shit, if there's a team in the league that would give up a 1st for Sneed it's Detroit. And frankly, they wouldn't be crazy to do so. Sneed will help them more over the next 2 or 3 seasons than that draft pick will. And the draft is deep at WR and OL where they're already fairly young and fairly strong.

If the Lions would give us their 2 and Jameson Williams for Sneed, I'm pretty sure I'd have to do it.

It would be a nice haul but Jameson just hasn't done anything yet as a pro.

Yeah the Lions don't have to pay any of their star players except St Brown soon.

The 29th pick probably isn't getting you a guy you need right now to get where you need to go.

And quite honestly GB is gonna be a problem with Love and the weapons they have. Having Sneed cut off one of those guys is huge for that defense.

It makes too much sense. The time is now and they should treat it as such

Spags trusts the CBs he has. And why would we have to take a CB high when they've proven they can find them anywhere?

Because that person might be Trent McDuffie.

You don't think he trusts Josh Williams? Here's what he did against the Bengals k in the playoffs when Sneed got concussed on the 2nd play of the game:

We've started Jaylen Watson for a stretch of games. We've started Josh Williams in big games.

They're not dominant but they're solid trustworthy corners.

PFF has Williams graded just as high as Sneed on the year. Of course Sneed has more snaps.

With the extra cap space this year, a team might be more willing to do the trade a pick AND pay for a guy.
