That answer is every single one of them.
Yep, totally get it. It just seems weird watching it from our bubble, and as the baseline continues to keep going up.

Just so glad to not be a part of it.

I feel like Pat is the better QB, in my opinion.

I didn't have to. Kurt Warner (could've been Chris Simms) did. Explained in detail that Jones didn't really get better. Daboll had him run more, especially inside the 25. Took away opportunities to do stupid things with the ball. But analyzing the actual numbers, Jones wasn't more efficient, they just reduced the number of times he could throw in exchange for runs.

Those are all true. And if you had watched the Giants like they did, you'd know that it was pretty much all Daboll, like they said. They spent most of the year trying to eliminate turnovers, especially from Jones. They were "playing not to lose" all year. Pretty much the definition of a game manager QB.

You said this about Alex Smith - "he wasn't special in any way, but he could operate the offense and make good decisions, and not lose games." Daniel Jones did EXACTLY this in 2022. Exactly.

No that's not the answer. There are also high paid QB's that are earning their money. Like Rodgers & Josh Allen. You have a few upper-mid tier guys paid like mid tier guys like Dak Prescott & Lamar Jackson & then you have a few not good qb's making no money like Marcus Mariota. Lots of teams aren't massively overpaying their qb like the Giants are, and they aren't all on rookie deals

Ah, I get it.

Except Alex could make good decisions all on his own, he didn't need to be cajoled/corralled into not being dumb.

No he just had to be cajoled/corralled into throwing the ball further then 6 yards.

Yeah but that's a huge difference. One guy effectively ran the offense while not doing having the physical skills to make eye popping plays. The other guy basically forced the OC to scrap half his playbook.

Lol, that's true. Took him what? 4 years to start throwing balls past 15 yards on any regular basis?

There's not a world of difference between Smith and Jones, sorry. They both have/had strengths and they both have/had debilitating weaknesses.

You're not winning a SB with either of them. The end result for either of them would be the same.

I can do more. Andy Dalton, Geno Smith , Jimmy Garapolo & Jared Goff all had to 10 qb ratings with reasonable salaries. There are plenty of teams that get value from the qb position.

In fact the entire top 10 in qb rating last season I would consider none of them over paid & only 4 of the top 10 are on rookie deals.
