I'm just saying, Harbaugh will figure out how to put a quality team on the field. And that LAC will be a better team starting next season. Better than what they've been during the Brandon Staley debacle. I think we can count on that. Then after that, it's just how will it take to get LAC to be competitive with the Chiefs. 2 years? 3?

Sooner or later, he's going to make them competitive.

Assuming he can "fix" Herbert, of course. I am assuming that he can fix Herbert. If he can't, never mind.
Some things can't be "fixed". Herbert's inability to get it done when it matters most doesn't seem like something that can be fixed. You might be able to hide it, like he did Alex's issues, but they will come up in the playoffs like they always do.

1. Mother**** Harbitch****.

2. Enjoy your cap, and especially your STAR QB being 30-32

Yeah, and he got WAY ****ING WEIRDER the last few years at Michigan than he was in SF. It's possible he may just be off the ****ing reservation. Like Mike Singletary mooning the players crazy.

People act like Herbert is so good that it makes that job the best available. Maybe if he were still on a rookie deal I could agree with that.

I'd rather be in Washington where you have a chance to draft your own QB on a rookie deal with some young talent around him already in place on offense. Same with the Falcons.

He will probably try to do the same thing he did with the Niners and Michigan. Help protect a flawed quarterback by giving him a very strong defense and very strong run game. Hide the QB's flaws as much as possible. It's been a pretty successful strategy for him.

Maybe. i think he had the disadvantage of terrible coaching and circumstances, combined with a bad FO working against him from Day 1.

We'll see. But if he can be fixed, Harbaugh will fix him.

And Herbert doesn't have to be Mahomes, btw. He just has to be efficient and be able to make big plays when the opportunities present themselves. And not shit his pants at the first sign of adversity. He could be a more athletic/bigger armed version of Drew Brees. Or Andrew Luck. They could win a lot of games, and yeah, even win a SB with a QB that played like that. Herbert doesn't have to be the Second Coming.

He was just fired from the Dolphins.

yeah, something like that is my guess as well. And it's a tried-and-true formula that works. Heck, it got PHI all the way to the SB last season.

Heard on the radio today that Fangio is on the short list for PHI DC.

But that was on the radio; just a rumor at this point.

He was able to do it with Kaepernick all the way to a Super Bowl. Almost won it. And he was able to win a college national title with a very flawed QB this season.

But I think you are correct that the Chargers eventually going to run into an elite QB playing unbelievably great football in the AFC Playoffs...and that will be a problem for them if Herbert is not able to get his shit together in clutch moments. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow are definitely a problem when they have their A-game. And I think it's very possible Stroud will be a problem for AFC contenders in the future as well. I would say Lamar can be problematic as well. He has a chance to really show it this weekend.
