*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I mean in the rollout play, he's not wrong. It was cool to see but it's tough to play that way in the league very long. He's gotta excel within the structure first. When he does that, plus is able to do this other things, look out

Is he talking about the dump in the flat to Redding? Yes, that play absolutely was there.

I remember thinking as it was replaying the first time that Smith would have jumped all over that checkdown and picked up 3-4 yards. Redding was covered out of the backfield and had a defender lurking close.

You're talking about Redding on the left sideline, right?

Yeah, he could have stayed within the structure and flipped it there for a short gain. We'd need all-22 to know for sure, but there were defenders in the area as he ducked out there.

Yeah, he could have fit that in there for sure. That all comes with time. I'm just glad that he didn't check down to the RB for 3 yards.

Sure

I know everyone has become tired of seeing that around here, but sometimes it's the right play.

He's a young rookie. He made some good throws, he made some bad throws. Could he have thrown it over the middle - looks like it. Did he learn more from being in the game and his film review today, or would he have learned more from watching Smith dump it off on the same play? Play him and let him learn.

Sure, "sometimes".

I'm just thrilled to watch a Chiefs QB that constantly keeps his eyes looking downfield and not bailing out to the outlet receiver at the first sign of trouble. I'll give up the occasional "safe" or "right" play to give a shot at a big play.
