Made a new addition to the collection. With all of the recent Mickey Mantle rookie frenzy, I was experiencing a little FOMO, and since I can no longer afford a 52 Topps (and I already own a 51 Bowman), I went for this...which I'm willing to bet that most hobbyists aren't aware they even exist.
This is the 1951 Wheaties rookie... It's currently off at PSA getting authenticated...pretty obvious it's going to grade a 1. |

I just don't rip very much any more of either hobby or retail. Best return I have had in the past year has been retail every time. The price vs. return is bullshit, especially on hobby. Not like it wasn't prior to the 2020 and the bump. But damn at this point might as well put cash in the fireplace. If there is a a single I want I just buy it. And let the others burn their cash to find it for me.

That is some straight up bullshit though. 1, 2 card silver pack. I don't know whether to laugh or not to the victims Topps is raping. So are all the SP's in retail products? Are they even printed? Where the **** are they? |

Got my Mickey Mantle "rookie" back from PSA. Was pretty pleased with the grade 2. I fully expected a 1 or 1.5. Adds another $500-1000 in value. I have a 51 Bowman and a 51 Wheaties....now all I need is a 52 Topps

So, I got a question.
Which services is better overall to send cards to be graded and would potentially fetch great value when the time comes to selling them? Beckett or PSA? I finally went through of roughly about 30,000+ cards that I have in my possession that I been grabbing from card packs since I started in roughly around 1989, and I was able to pull some that I think might have very significant value. Two examples would be: Example 1: 1 card of 2000 Upper Deck Victory Card # 326 Tom Brady Rookie Card (this appears to be possible grade 9 from my untrained eye, as I do not see edges frayed and no discolorations from what I can tell). Example 2: 2 cards of 2002 Upper Deck XL Card # 362 Alan Faneca Rookie Card (this appears to be a rare card, and similar to the Brady card, I did not see any edges frayed and no discolorations from what I can tell). Thoughts? |

Me and this card meet again. https://www.ebay.com/itm/115590999178
Story on this card was I bought it IIRC in late 2019 for $50. Gave it to my son who eventually sold it for $279. Enter a week or so ago I noticed it popped up on ebay. I hit the watch button and come back an hour later and noticed 5 people have watched in within the hour. I immediately threw out a $100 offer. It was accepted about 20 mins later. So here I am with this card. I have spent $150 to own it. My son earned $279 to sell it. We are up $129 just to own it again. |

Picked this up for 21.50 plus shipping. Most don't like college uni rookies but I am okay with them. Plus it's cheaper than a blaster from walmart.
