I don't think there's any way he misses games, he's gonna get paid in two games what he made damn near all of last year

But after last year, you're probably right in the fact that the Chiefs don't want any part of dealing with another big contract dispute

It has to be exhausting dealing without agents day in and day out , throw in unrealistic expectations from other teams/players etc..

I think whatever the Chiefs do will let us guess somewhat accurately what this is like behind the scenes.

He’s also a DB. If there’s any position where Veach deserves blind trust, it’s that one.

Then laugh in his face and call his bluff? He hasn't made shit for money yet in the league. Just playing on the tag this season would net him 19 million dollars. He's only made a bit over 5 million the entire time he's been in the league. So sure. Hold out for half a season and slash your earning potential in half. The more important games are in the back half of the schedule anyways.

Two 3rds would be disappointing. A 3rd and 2nd would make it alright. But either way it's really about roster construction and cap flexibility. People saying "just keep him then" are obviously missing the point. That's a LOT of cap dollars they can use on XYZ positions and players, which in turn gives them extra flexibility to do what they want in the draft.

Yeah, I get the cap piece of it and it's why I ultimately think it happens

But what we do with those dollars is important... I don't think we are in need of star power but it would damn nice to build great depth with it.
