Or the dig by Watson, which Mahomes is looking right at.

Look at the leverage he has on the CB.

It's third and long. Either throw it in the ground, throw it to Watson, then punt.

I can't quite tell who's at the top of the screen, but that's his target. He's looking at him and you can see the wide slot was designed to draw attention.

But the guy at the top of the screen, instead of coming back towards the LOS to maintain a throwing lane, drifts towards the middle and into the coverage. Poor zone awareness.

By the time he came off that receiver, he might have had the underneath throw to the WR on the chip. And was that Gray that was maybe settling?

But really, he probably should've fired it as soon as the guy at the top of the screen started to settle down for his cut. The slot underneath him had drawn the help and there's a window there to get some yardage.

Mahomes can't hold that ball on 3rd and 20. He just can't. Throw it on time or throw it away because you KNOW they're coming and the only thing that can really make this a ballgame again is a turnover deep in your own end.

Mahomes gacked that play.

No, the point is if you are scheming around your limitations it limits your ability to adapt. We can’t just say “oh you’re gonna blanket kelce, we’re going to exploit you with the WRs you leave open.” Just because the defense dares you to run with CEH 30 times as they did 2 years ago doesn’t mean it’s ideal or that we can claim ceh is fine because he broke open some runs when the defense was daring him to run.

And it feels the same way now. We start initial scripts off by avoiding our WRs, and defenses find ways to neutralize that attack and force us to beat them with our WRs. This week we caught Miami off guard and went with a heavy WR script early. they have good enough DBs to just play more aggressive. At some point with flow of game you gotta play through your limits versus scheming around it. The common theme is that defenses seem to eventually figure out how to manage our weapons and in some way dare us to try to beat them with our WRs. And sometimes we can and sometimes we can’t

There you go. That's who it was (the arm sleeve should've given it away).

Yeah, that was the throw. Fire it as soon as he gets into his break. The throw was absolutely there.

My god man.
It became clear early on that Miami was going to mug our WRs. They mugged rashee and Watson and by and large it worked. Especially when they got away with some of it early.

Shucks. If only there was a way to get a ballhandler into motion early to counteract jams at the line.

He's drifted into "run around and try to school yard this thing" instead of throwing the ball on time and it's killing the offense.

Yeah of course. We need more creative play designs, probably more 12 and 13 personnel. We have ways to work around it to make us just good enough. Which is why I’m not walking in with a sour attitude. But just as there’s only so much you can blame an OL for cehs failures a few years ago, I’m not putting nearly as much of this on mahomes and Reid for not doing that extra extra to elevate a group who needs to be much much better. Or the front office decisions that put these guys out there who maybe aren’t that capable of much better.

Or we could, you now, throw it to the WR getting the most snaps.

Everyone is gonna want them to go pay for a WR this offseason, then when Mahomes locks onto the guy next year it'll be whatever the next bitch fest is.

Seriously. They've done what pretty much everyone was clamoring for in regards to snaps and the offense has gotten WORSE. Perhaps the primary factor hasn't been the talent in the WR room all along.

Toney and Gray are the most baffling things right now to me. I don't get the lack of use of either one.

How about bringing Hardman in only to primarily watch him bungle PR duties. Not a single end around or deep shot to him to keep defenses honest.

And I fully understand I am holding him to a damn near un attainable level. But that's what he's played like here in his tenure.

He's still playing "good" football. But good aint gonna cut it.

That was the only available throw IMO but I think that is Ramsey defending and he looks like he is baiting him to throw that.
