****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

I haven't watched the All 22 but I do find it odd that missing JJSS and adding Rice could be such a tremendous downgrade. Maybe Ds have are playing closer to the LOS this year because they realize if with Mahomes there's no WR to be scared of.

Every split second of anticipating is a thousand years in nfl time. And Mvs/Watson are boom/bust options. We know this. The majority of the time they don’t get separation. We just rely on them to break free a few times a game. At this point in their career it is who they are. So that leaves the majority of snaps where it’s really hard for mahomes to have any clue who to target.

And this is all by the way contingent on WRs separating. Most QBs don’t even need WRs to separate because in a pinch that can toss up 50/50 balls and ask their WRs to make plays.

The narrative is easy. Right now our WRs are playing like a bottom 5 unit. The whole “blame the qb for not carrying a bottom 5 unit” is shit that should not fly either.
The ****ing quarterback makes 50 million dollars a year. This all ties in here.

Could the group be better at WR? Sure.

But if we're wanting a group that's gonna be separating every play, well that's just gonna come at the cost of the OL or the defense. Which you've advocated you are ok with, again, which is fine.

But that's on the QB. You want the big contract and all the shit? Yeah, you're gonna need to play like you did last year.

Just playing like a "top 10 good QB" isn't good enough when you make what you make.

The OL was worse than the WR's this game. It was bad.

The first drive, when he's putting his foot in the ground and throwing the ball decisively, weird that guys were open and they mowed right down the field.

"But the script"

Yeah, ok, sure. They scripted the first 15 that were not similar at all to what they ran the rest of the game. Definitely.

The first drive throws to Watson were plays some of the "WRs never get open" guys here would say he wasn't open.

Apparently we expect WR's to get Tyreek Hill type separation here to be "open".

it's really telling when folks just parrot Moore and MVS as the major problems. You're not actually paying attention then. Rice is the one taking the most snaps at WR, MVS is the same player he's always been, and the rope for Moore has never been shorter this season. Eventually you're going to have to find other chickens to **** if you're hellbent on refusing to acknowledge Mahomes and Reid/Nagy are contributing to the issues.

There wasn't much time for receivers to develop routes. Again OL REALLY struggled

Well, if the one of Mahomes running into pressure yesterday is full proof, I'm gonna have to say you may be off here.

oh brother. The cap isnt an excuse for fielding a bottom 5 unit and not being at least mid. And most people have said the bar at the very damn least isn’t a Justin Jefferson contract. People aren’t hyping up juju because he’s expensive or talented. It’s because the issue right now is as simple as not having reliable targets whose bare minimum job is to execute the right play and make the easy play when it comes to you. We aren’t even doing that consistently.

Yuuuuuup.

Did the receivers who were heavily involved in the gameplan over the first drive suddenly forget how to get 'open'?

Or is it that Mahomes was actually triggering on the heavily scripted first 15 plays where he was comfortable throwing the ball to guys into ordinary sized NFL windows?

My point is and has been that it's not just this or that, it's a little bit of several things.

WR's do get open, but perhaps not as consistently as needed. Mahomes is missing some plays that are there to be made. The offensive line is mostly fine, but has screwed up in some spots where a play was otherwise there.

One legged Juju is the only missing ingredient here. I reject the notion that it's a lack of talent.
