For now, anyway.

For any other team, with a mortal QB, they have to have good or great WRs to perform anywhere near the Chiefs level. It's just how it is right now.
No. He's not the only one.

Well, let's just say, we haven't seen another QB perform like Brady, Manning, Brees, etc. Maybe there's one or two that have it in them, but we haven't seen it yet.

He's clearly the #1 QB but you guys are getting real wacky with the Mahomes is god stuff.

Here's a fun little stat for you. Since you like to point out how Burrow was only led by his defense in '21 (well, '22 as well), let's take a glance at the numbers.

In '21, the Bengals scored 92pts on offense and gave up 82pts on defense for a +10 scoring differential.

In '23, the Chiefs scored 95 pts on offense and gave up 63 pts on defense for a +32 scoring differential.

Your defense gave up <20 points 9 times in the regular season and <20 pts 2 out of the 4 playoff games.

Your offense, like the Bengals, never scored 28 pts in the playoffs.

Pat had his 2nd worse season in terms of yards and TDs, his worst season in terms of ypa and ypg and threw the most ints in his career. He had his 2nd lowest passer rating in the playoffs.

Pat was sacked 5 times total in the post season.
Burrow was sacked 19 times in his '21 sb run.

So, if Burrow was carried by his D in '21, Pat was carried by his D last year.

He's clearly #1 because at the end of the game, he's made the throws when he's needed to. A percentage of that is due to the protection he gets, where Burrow doesn't get that luxury. How did Pat look in the Tampa sb when he was running for his life?

Mahomes time to throw in the '23 sb was 3.17
Burrows time to throw in the '21 sb was 2.39
Aaron Donald was on Burrow in 2 seconds flat on that last play.
Give Burrow 3 seconds on that last play and he has a ring on his finger.

As far as needing great WRs, Burrow doesn't. I've already pointed out on numerous occasions how he had a washed and checked out AJ Green, a rookie in Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd only starting 8 games in '20 and he threw for 300 yds 4 times and 400 yds once before being injured against Wash, where he had 200 yds at the half.

He made Tee Higgins the #1 WR in yards the 4 games Ja'Marr missed in '22 and he's thrown to Trenton Irwin numerous times when Tee or Ja'Marr have been out. Hell, he's the only reason TE Tanner Hudson is on an NFL roster right now.

Don't worry. Despite the delusion, there is another QB who can lead his team to wins without elite talent around him. He's already proven it if you bother to watch anyone but the Chiefs.

I've been told that once they get paid, they stop caring about winning, so I guess?

Mahomes got help from the defense last year, especially against Baltimore. Burrow's defense has never given up more than 24 points in a Playoff game. Even in your losses they only gave up 23 points, which is very respectable defense. They repeatedly held Playoff opponents below 20 points (Buffalo, Baltimore, Oakland, Tennessee). That's 4 of your 5 Playoff wins where the defense utterly shutdown the opponent. You can spin it however you want, but that's a hell of a weapon for your team across 2 deep runs in the Playoffs. By comparison, the Chiefs defense had these shitty Playoff games from 2018 to 2022:

37 points by Patriots/Brady
31 points by Houston/Deshaun
31 points by Tampa/Brady
36 points by Buffalo/Allen
35 points by Philly/Hurts

Chiefs managed to win 3 of those 5 games, but it's not a sustainable formula in general.

I don't remember the Bengals defense in the Playoffs getting pushed around like KC did last season in Buffalo. 180 yards rushing by the Bills and they controlled the ball to keep Mahomes on the sideline for 65% of that game. KC still would have scored 34 points if Hardman didn't fumble on the goal line. The KC defense was pretty great against Miami, Baltimore, and San Fran. But that Buffalo game was not great by comparison.

I don’t entirely get the hate for this move. CeeDee lamb has become an elite WR. If I’m Dallas I’d be a lot more worried about the qb who’s done so little despite being given so much. This contract is market rate at this point

A good defense is a great thing to have. But so is a line that can block effectively.

Agreed, both are very important. Both played a major role in Brady's 7 rings. You don't get there with shitty defense and a shitty OL. Not happening, lol

Chase is better than Lamb but not as good as Jefferson. Should make his contract pretty simple.

But the Bungles will drag it out and turn it into a disaster of course.
