They don't have any more money than us. We redo the Jones contract, we have the money. But, just because we can make it work this year, if he wants top money, we move on.

I'd rather not sign Hopkins at this point. I'd like to see Jones get a contract extension and use that freed up money on our young up and coming talent that will need new contracts soon. Humphrey, Bolton, Gay, Sneed (Pacheco soon) will all have a greater impact on this team by keeping them here than bringing in Hopkins.

I'm not expecting a lot out of rookie Rice with or without Hopkins although I certainly hope Skyy can take the next step as a year two player. Toney will play, if healthy. A big if. If Skyy had finished the season stronger, I would feel better about things. No, I haven't given up on him. But the WR room still has enough questions that Hopkins would be somebody I think you should think about on the off chance he wants to take a reasonably cheap one year deal with KC. Although I suspect he'll ask for too much. |

Yep, pretty reasonable approach imo. I'd probably see what we've got on rhe assumption we might need some flexibility on e.g. bringing in another DT. But given WR IS a big question mark getting Hopkins on a short, incentive laden deal seems pretty good too.

This, and we got Sneed, then Bolton, Creed and Trey coming up. If he wants to chase a ring on a 1 year discount deal, great, if not, move on... We are not that franchise chasing old Vets at a premium anymore, it's how you not only close, but slam shut your window.

Whole of the NFL will collectively shit their pants if we get this over the line. Mahomes, DHop, CEH and Kelce offense is just cheat code.
