Gasoline at $4 Coming to a Pump Near You, Unfazed by Rising Tab

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=afOlUzd30YOo

Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

Both oil and gasoline are headed lower. Oil could drop by as much as $10 a barrel and that should be close to the bottom for all your speculators out there. Doesn't mean it's going to rise to $100 anytime soon but at $35 a barrel, it really crimps a lot of producers.

RBOB Gasoline, which hit a recent low of $1.32 when oil hit $45 a barrel on the first leg down shot back up to $1.88 when the refinery workers went on strike. Gas at the pump shot up from around $1.85 a gallon all the way to $2.35-$2.45 in 45 days.

Now that the strike is settled and production will ramp back up, gas at the pump will come back down. Since there is so much crude building up at places like Cushing OK and the Bayway Terminals in Port Newark, the refineries are going to be place to help reduce some of the oversupply by producing as much as possible quickly.

Look for gas to go back down at least .35-.40

My wife and son have been complaining about the increase. I told them it will drop again by the end of April. They don't believe me.

Well, it looks like it actually might happen...

Crude down 3.57% right now at $43.70

Gasoline at $2.42 and should fall at least $0.20/gallon over the next month or so.

Nope. Gonna see the "summer blends" start to come online and that will start raising the price as it always does.

Or some small oil spill, or some well timed plant malfunction, or somebody in the middle east will continue to act crazy...

We'll see. The price right now is reflective of the strike. It's already down $0.03 since last week.

And, sure, the price will increase with driving season coming up.

I take it you don't think any of those things should affect pricing? If not, they aren't excuses. They are explanations.
