Not really. Is there anyone critical of rashee even if his upside MIGHT be more Watkins vs tyreek? The urgency with WR is knowing that the more we can lean on WRs or a solid TE2, the less we need to lean on a 34 year old TE to take on extremely high utilization and GOAT level play. I would’ve preferred that happen this year but whatever… we can get it done with very high kelce utilization for another season. We have enough horses to do that effectively by season end assuming kelce can keep up with this workload.

I believe I heard a stat from Petro's show last year where they said the Chiefs have been load managing Kelce for years and he only gets 75-80% of the total snaps.

Looked at the snap count yesterday and yep he had 75%

Nobody said stop getting him the ball. The offense still runs through him. But if a WR is capable of eating secondary targets that’s just a few less times you have to ask kelce to battering ram his way through defenses. Hell, I wouldn’t mind even subbing him out of more packages early in the season to keep him fresh. We’ve played some soft defenses but there are defenses out there that get really chippy with kelce.

Keep in mind juju was getting 8+ targets in half of his games last year and that didn’t mean we stopped going to kelce. I think we all feel rashee will eventually be that kind of target eater but until he does, we are asking kelce to carry a huge weight.

They do need another big time talent in the room though.
Yeah I'm thinking they're gonna have 2 major decisions this Spring: Chris Jones and Donovan Smith.

I think you make room to give Smith a raise to stay for a few years. He's only 30 and looks really good in this offense.

Depends what Smith is wanting. I wouldn't mind keeping him around on a nice deal, not high end LT money though.

They can't let Jones walk. Worst case you tag and trade him but he's playing at such an elite level, I don't know that you can let him leave KC

Who is selling him short? It’s not that he can’t do it. It’s about load management.

But on top of that, there will be defenses that can “neutralize” kelce in spots especially if we’re putting it all on him. You can’t put all your eggs in one basket. We will eventually play defenses who can keep kelce a little more in check. We gotta get players who can do more than just play off kelce dominating. I think we can get there but we don’t seem there yet.

It was so hilarious that the Chargers went 3 quarters without doubling Kelce. Its like a gift everytime teams play zone against us. Kelce and Pat decimate it. Just put someone on Kelce at all times and force the other guys to beat you.

No, but what it does mean is that he's not this super-star stud "1st round talent" that so many were declaring during TC.

He is NOT a rookie. This is his 2nd year. He was in the WR room learning the offense and studying film etc for an entire season last year.
