They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

WRs were pretty good today. I feel like Andy went too conservative in the second half and it ruined the rhythm of the offense. Their only 2nd half score was a short field after a big punt return. The running game was hurting the offense in the second half. Should have passed on pretty much every play.

A big part of it was how the Chargers played. But was nice to see them make some great catches. The bigger role for Rice, in particular, was good to see.

They put up 483 yards, 415 net in the air.

They did exactly what they were supposed to do.

And so did the Defense.

Megatron is the absolute worst.

zilla at least is a consistent zealot.

Megatron is like an uzi that can’t shoot straight and spews cherry-picked stats all over the place to support his argument. It’s a comical drive-by at this point.

Lol, my entire post is literally facts. No interpretation, just the numbers.

The fact that even you can see that they (the numbers) aren't particularly great should tell you everything you need to know, bud.

And that was the worst passing defense in the league, both in raw stats, that you and TC seem to love, and in DVOA or any weighted stats you can find.

Basically, it was the same level of defense we played vs. DEN. They just executed better this time, but both games were always supposed to be "get right" games for our passing attack. The WRs caught 12 balls today; great. Against the Chargers that's what they were supposed to do.

You know you're a clown when you're just happening to neglect that Mahomes threw for 400+ yards against these guys.

Did those defensive DVOA stats you're talking about just reference the WR production? Or did it represent a complete offensive effort against the Chargers? Hint: the latter.

And why would you ever ding these WRs because Kelce had a career-ish game? Because that's clearly what you're implicitly doing.

It's just so very obviously disingenuous and you continue to act like a fool. The eye test was clear: the WRs were plenty solid in this game and did exactly what they were supposed to do. This was absolutely in line with what they did last season when the Chiefs had the best offense in the league.

(Not the best WR-based offense in the league mind you!)

Ross must show up to practice bc we target him almost every time he's on the field. Wish he woulda caught that TD today.

Or maybe because you’re optimistic (as am I) you’re ignoring that some people are being extruciatingly apologetic about our WRs and because they are the majority opinion, people are letting it slide. To the point that they’ll knock down Reid and mahomes to prove their point. Case in point, are you gonna respond to the poster who claimed this will be the best wr corps mahomes has ever had? Or what about the people who keep claiming WRs are constantly open and mahomes is just missing them? Or is it just me because I had the gall to say the WRs have been bumpy and I’ll be satisfied once we evolve into the rotation every one of us wants.

We played the worst pass offense in football today. We’ve played 5 really bad pass defenses this year. But yeah goddamn did it feel good to be in rhythm. But the story hasn’t changed. This offense puts a 5000 lb weight on kelce. Its not ideal but we can make that work. But also in most games defenses have found ways to adjust to kelce and neutralize him, and our offense looks entirely different once we do. We need WRs to step up. Mvs did today early but we know that’s not a consistent option.

So yeah my opinion hasn’t changed. And I don’t think it’s as different from the majority as it may seem as long as the homers control the narrative. Our WRs need to be better. It means rice rice and more rice, and unlike today not abandoning him the entire second half. It means not glorifying skyy for a few catches and recognizing that mecole for all his flaws was targeted frequently because he’s doing the things we wanted from skyy but much better. It’s recognizing that Toney may not be a consistent contributor. It’s loving Mvs’ game today while also recognizing this is a once every few games deal. It’s asking why we abandon Ross for a single mistake but make excuses for skyy making several. We will figure it out but we aren’t there yet.

The thread title isn't "the passing offense sux," dipstick.

If you scroll up to the top of the thread you'll find that it quite clearly states "the WRs suck." Maybe take a class in English comprehension.

And for the record, I've never actually stated that the WRs suck. I've said that they've underperformed. There's a difference.

And my reference to DVOA was in reference to the Chargers defense, not our WRs. Or any WRs. Or any offense at all.

You're ridiculous.

If the offense has a good game, it's -

Well, but the third quarter...

Or it's -

Well but that's a bad defense

Never is it, yeah they're clearly getting better.

Which is the only real reasonable take here.

You'd be thrilled if Rice had 100 and MVS had the 70 or whatever, but since it was spread around, you always have to find something ANYTHING to bitch about.

Seriously. Go be a Miami fan. That's your team. That's how you want your football. Get the **** off my bus

Lol, I already said they looked better today, both in the GDT and Denver's "level-headed review." Do I have to post some such at the beginning of every post?

Is that what it takes to "be a proper Chiefs fan" these days?

Nope.

When you start quoting DVOA stats, you're not quoting anything about the Chargers success against WRs. You're quoting how they've done against opposing offenses. So don't pretend to conflate the two things in your elaborate cherrypicking.

The Chiefs passing offense was absolutely nails today and the Chiefs WRs did exactly what they were supposed to do in the context of this system with Kelce generating the bulk of targets, just as he did last year.

Or, is an offense where Mahomes throws for 425yds not able to run through Kelce? Is that not satisfying?

There was absolutely nothing about the WRs that sucked today. But your ego is too fragile to allow it.

KC brings Hardman back and even MVS starts playing better.
