If the defensive ranking is higher than 31st, it was a solid hire for 2019-2020.

and he's had washed out as a head coach as well as had some less than stellar defenses. but yeah, I think he is an excellent defensive coordinator. situations matter. talent level matters. Sutton had a great situation, and in 6 years was unable to get the talent to run his scheme. Time for a change. |

With this move, maybe it might be interesting to give Jay valai a more prominent role. If Andy is about innovation I want him being fed a shitload of information about what's working in the college game.

I'd love to have the next great defensive mind. But unfortunately that person either already has a job or has yet to prove themselves. I'm willing to settle for a coach who knows when to be aggressive and when to freaking adjust in game.
That last Brady drive in regulation - they had the ball with 2 minutes left and we had TOs. So what do you do in that situation? a) Play a gambling defense to get a stop, try to shut down the short passes, knowing that if you give up a big play at least you get the ball back? b) Play your safeties way off the ball trying to prevent the big play, and die of death by papercut? Guess what BOB did? |
