Star Wars: Rebels

And here's our replacement for Clone Wars. Coming to Disney XD in fall 2014. Bridges the gap between Eps 3 and 4. Looks...very cool. Conceptually.

Bit more detail:

The series will mine material from the 19 years that follow Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and precede the Episode IV: A New Hope. In other words, using the life of the Skywalker twins as a measure, the series will be active in the story years that come after their separation as newborns and before their (unwitting) reunion on the prison level of the Death Star.

No word on whether the show will feature Darth Vader (who would be in the Empire’s power consolidation years and earning his reputation) or even pull in a character like Han Solo, the smuggler and cynic who becomes an unlikely freedom fighter when he opts to stand with his friends against cosmic odds. The title of the show is vaguely phrased in a way that any rebel — even a Boba Fett or Ahsoka Tano might qualify as a title character merely by walking an outsider’s path.

The series has three executive producers: Dave Filoni, the point man on The Clone Wars animated series that launched in 2008; screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg, who has a flair for tonal rewiring and energizing familiar brands with new edge (e.g.: X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes); and Greg Weisman, whose credits include well-regarded work on Young Justice and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

It's also possible that the Son is Snoke, as they appear to be very similar looking.

My money's still on The Grand Inquisitor, as it makes the most sense out of all the existing characters. He knew and worked for the Emperor and Darth Vader, likely knew of Anakin Skywalker and was never officially a Sith.

He may have created the Knights of Ren after his defeat at the hands of Kanan and Ezra.

Other favorites include 'irregardless of-' and 'I could care less.'

Space whale episode was kind of lame but ended okay. Had similar mixed feelings about zeb finding his people's lost world the week prior. I think they need to get back to fighting the Empire.

Yep. They've introduced not only a couple of new bad ass Inquisitors, but now Vader and Asohka are in the mix and we get a "Save the Whales" episode. Enough fluff, let's get back down to business.

She's a big time Disney voice actor and won't be out of work because she does several of their programs.

Voice acting has to be the greatest job in the world. Tons of upfront dough, SAG residuals with every second of air time and in many cases, people work from home with an ISDN line.

And best of all, no one cares about looks. It's about pure talent.

I'm in the wrong business.

I've actually enjoyed the last few episodes because they've provided backstories for the characters while still moving the narrative forward.

If Zeb is killed in action at some point, we now know that he's not the last of his species. Sabine isn't the only Mandalorian warrior with honor - they're not all ruthless bounty hunters.

The point, to me anyway, of this week's episode is that Ezra's Force powers are growing quickly.

From my POV, this takes a little heat off of TFA and the "Hey, how did Rey have such connection with The Force? And while we're at it, Luke, too!" talking points.

It seems like a connection to The Force can be instantly powerful and that the Jeid Order was only necessary to "mentor" young Force users and in some ways, indoctrinate them for the Republic.

I'd put the odds of Zeb getting killed somewhere around zero.

I don't mind fluff and always prefer character over plot, I just didn't think the episodes were very good. But I don't have a kid watching with me, though. Maybe if I did I'd appreciate space whales and old crones more. But I don't...

... And teach them the control necessary to avoid the lure of the dark side/help them dampen their internal darkness.

I hadn't heard that she was looking for work, but suspected Ahsoka would have to come out on the loosing end to line up with existing continuity.

Why?

From my perspective, Ahsoka, Kanan and Ezra could all be alive during the OT and maybe Episode VII and beyond because none of them ever received the title of Jedi Knight.

Ashoka left the Order, Kanan's Master was killed, then he went into hiding. Kanan Jarrus isn't his real name, it's Caleb Dume.

There's no way that Ezra could be bestowed with the title of Jedi Knight because there is no Jedi Order.

I have to be honest: I'm not even sure what we saw or what to think. The Grand Inquisitor being a former Jedi isn't surprising but seeing him alive, in one piece, was certainly a shock. And why was he warning Kanan about Ezra?

I was at Disney Animation today for a meeting (which was amazing - the place is just screaming with creativity) and while I couldn't get anyone to tell what's going to happen with the fate of Ezra, Kanan and Ahsoka, everyone told me not to miss tonight's episode.

I have to watch it again, I think.
