But it's not because I don't think Aiyuk is an excellent player - I definitely do. He's outstanding. He's not quite Brown but I don't think he's any worse than Diggs was when he was traded.

So essentially it comes down to execution. If you make the Brown for a 1st deal and lose out on Treylon Burks in the process, it's a home run of a deal. If you make the Diggs for a 1st deal and lose out on Justin Jefferson, it's a disaster.

So if you're gonna swing that big, you'd better be right. Are the Eagles appreciably worse with Christian Kirk and George Pickens than they'd be with AJ Brown? Eh...I don't know that they are. They're different to be sure - worse? I don't know that I can get there.
I just don't see Aiyuk as being so much better than the potential free agent WRs that he's worth sinking a 1st into as well as the contract. Much rather just pay a Higgins on the open market and then head into the draft with designs to move up the board and get one of the receivers as well.

I'm not a fan anymore of the "all these parts can add up to this guy" thinking. It's riskier to go with the 1 I guess with injury, but just get the elite player. It seems easier over time to keep that guy.

Well, when you consider who is *actually* going to be available, he definitely is.

The guys who are actually gonna hit the market are guys like Mooney, Boyd, Noah Brown - JAG's.

Yeah, I mean I’m not doing cartwheels over the option. However I don’t really hate it either. I don’t think mecole is insurance. I view him as a speed specialist. I think Mooney has upside to be a good enough WR2 as long as he plays off of a WR1. Maybe pinch hit for a larger role temporarily.

I hate to say this bc I’ve banged the wr drum for so long. But if we make a very good wr pick in 2023, then all of a sudden paying blue chip money for a free agent WR is a lot lot lot of money. And all of a sudden a Mooney type WR suddenly feels like a decent value as long as he plays off kelce, rice and a new wr1

And yet it was MVS that saved our season last year. It didn't get more 'nut cutting time' than the catch he made over the middle or that 1st down he flat out stole through sheer force of will after contact.

Sometimes quantity has a quality all it's own. You never know who's gonna be the guy that steps up. Or who may even be available.

If we nail a pick for a true WR1 in the draft, kelce/wr1/Mooney/rice (power slot) looks really really good. Its a risk though if the wr1 is anything short of being a primary option.

These idiots get pissed off if we're not winning games 70-0. It's almost like the other teams in the league have talented players as well. Shocking.

I know for me personally it's not about that, it's about pretty much anyone with eyes knew this WR room was going to be a problem before the season even started.

I like Slayton more than MVS but he's not what we need to move needle at #1 or #2.

He would be a better MVS, #3 option if you signed him at right $$$.

And there is a vocal contingent of CP that still thinks these are good NFL WR's and that Mahomes is the problem.

Mahomes hasn't been as good as last year but that's what we should have expected, last year he was better than anyone else ever, you can't just think that is the standard.

I also think the WR room has broken him to a degree, it's hard to have faith and keep firing when guys drop balls at an unprecedented rate while also having massive issues lining up or running the right route, it's not even a functional passing game in many aspects.
